Hi , i dont know if we have a list of cars with the new tyre model . List BTCC GTE ORECA LMP2 BMW Class 1 Formula pro Tatuus F3 2020 (Not confirmed) Indycar IR18
From what I have been told, It´s not a "new" tyre model, It´s a Improvement over the last tyre model.
The tire model is the same, but S397 is working with new data provided by Good Year and It seems that they are having better results.
As Lagg said it's not new at all (not even an evolution, literally the same model but with some sort of adjustment to the tyre construction) but for better or worse this gets labeled as a new model by the majority, so just have to roll with it. (Get it? Roll with it? Hahaha )
@Jorge Fernandez every car is listed in above comments, if you could edit OP , so that other people don't have to scroll through the comments....which hopefully will only increase as more car arrive with new tyres .
Improvement, adjustment, new data etc. Which boils down to It´s not a new tyre model. Just trying to roll out that It´s not a new tyre model so people don´t think It Is as I did till I was told It´s not. I´ll roll with It though... Must be the heat
Maybe this thread needs to be updated: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/rf2-cars-tyre-model-list-heirachy.62381/
Early in iRacing's life we were hearing of new tyre models and I thought jeez, how can they change the model so often... then I realised it wasn't actually a new model at all. I tried to battle this misnaming in rF2 when the QSA adjustment (contact patch pressure distribution) happened in 2017 but quickly found it's a losing battle - and people generalise very quickly as well (ie GT3/GTE handling is under the spotlight -> new tyres come out -> suddenly all other older content "doesn't have the new model" and is automatically inferior in the same way). It's normal to simplify to aid understanding I suppose, and that leads to inaccuracies but we seem to need to keep making that point at the other end rather than at the beginning, because it doesn't get through. Actually it often doesn't get through at either end
When was it announced that the Tattus F3 2020 got the new tyre data? There are only speculation in the release announcement thread, but no official word from Studio 397.
@coasting&cruising probably i m wrong but i remember people talking about new Tattus car using the new tire data
Actually also the BMW Class 1 seems to be unconfirmed to take advantage of new tyre data from Goodyear. There is no mention of tyres in the release announcement back in June 2021 (the first official mention of the Goodyear collaboration seems to have been with the Formula Pro release in July 2021). The only mention I could find was from a user in this forum, but nothing from Studio 397: Maybe someone can quote a post from the devs on discord? Edited: actually Studio 397 confirmed the new tyre specifications are on the BMW Class 1, but on this month post on the GTE update:
