It's possible if it's ported to the graphics API of the console. Like any other game. They just have to change DX11 for Vulkan or whatever the console uses.
I think this is a very optimistic view. I see a very very niche game/sim/software that you need to buy just to race WEC cars. The sale numbers are probably going to be "modest" , and 6 months after its been released the playerbase will have disappeared back to other sims.
I am not sure if this the case. You are looking at this with your rFactor-fan glasses. You need to think outside the box. If you take a look at ACC for example wich is by far more limited in terms of what you can race and where you can race due to lisencing limitations, you will notice that it's still well recieved due to how it is packaged. It's THE official GT3 racing game. And that's with a sim that started with less than ten tracks and just a bunch of GT3 cars that are alot less diverse than what you get in a WEC based sim. If they really offer all the WEC and Le Mans entries, you will even have the option to race a NASCAR . With the lisencing partnership with the ACO they have options to expand their game not just with full ELMS and ALMS season packs and into the future of sportscar racing, but offering a blast from the past. S397/MSG propably can go as far back as 1953 with historic DLCs while still being fully open to what comes in the future. If this isn't the time to finaly get a Deltawing in a full blown sim than I don't know when we have a better time. ACO is hosting the Le Mans classic wich offers more cars than anyone of us will ever be able to master. If they do it right, there is a big opportunity to establish a very diverse platform. Some people just read WEC and think it's very niche, but looking at how it has pulled big manufacturers back into the sport I would think that it's surely not more niche than GT racing. Next year we will see BMW and Lambo joining the WEC and GT3 cars replacing the GTE class - once again a different experience. If you tag your racing game with Le Mans Ultimate you clearly have a better chance of attracting users than calling it rFactor XYZ. Next to the fact that the name rFactor has a stigma to it.
The screenshots look like the rF2 graphics engine: https://traxion.gg/le-mans-ultimate-is-the-official-game-of-the-24-hour-race-and-wec/
I don't understand why there is not an official post from Studio397 on the forum to address peoples questions and concerns.
Which questions and concerns? People arguing, speculating and overreacting in the forum is the norm. They will speak when they have something new to say. Next content drop is in August. And the new Competition System is coming soon.
My question is what does this mean for Rfactor2? Will Rfactor2 support and development stop? Is this Le Mans Ultimate meant to replace Rfactor2 or will it be a supplement to Rfactor2? If it is meant to be a completely separate game does that mean the WEC hypercars will never make it into Rfactor2?
I'm totally in the dark about the future of rFactor2. It can receive maintenance updates for several years, just like Windows 10/11 receives them I hope we see new things at Le Mans Ultimate, like a big step/evolution in the graphics engine (Vulkan - Consoles?) and physics. These updates may interfere with rFactor2 compatibility and be a reason to launch a new game. Sometimes you have to break it to fix it New CS from rFactor 2, will probably be the same as LMU. Later there could be a shift from content on rFactor 2 to Le Mans Unlimited, or an updated rFactor 2. I remember the Advanced Simulation announcement where they said they would stop developing for rFactor 2. And I am very curious where the Reiza update will end.
I'm very excited about idea of the wec game developed by studio 397. In the hope of a An RF2.5 a game that will evolve over several years, optimized without bugs 3 vr screens etc. ....what worries me most is the circuit content, because if we are only entitled to the WEC license (ELMS, ASIAN LE MANS), that's just about fifteen circuits! I don't expect an ACC blocked by the .... license. In terms of cars, there are lots of possibilities 2023: GTE LMP2 HYPERCAR 2024: NEW HYPERCAR GT3 Ferrari Challenge Porsche Cup, Ligier Cup AND DLC Le mans Classic (GR C , endurance Racing legends year 90-2000 who don't dream of reliving the mans 1998-1999) i hope the game lives up to its name ultimate: ultimate simulation ffb, tire model, realism, outdo the competition (iracing assetto corsa) I'm confident, because after the resounding failure of nascar in 2021, the crash at the 24h virtual.... (verstappen) . I think the pressure is enormous with the FIA license AND they don't have right to make a mistake in economic terms, especially as the next virtal lemans series should take place on this game! I want to believe
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2399420/Le_Mans_Ultimate/ it's on steam ! tracks : "Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Sebring, Bahreïn, Portimao, Fuji and the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe" I feel like the rF2 customers have to buy twice the content they already have. I just want Portimao and Fuji DLCs in rF2, and here we go.
*gasp* can a game developer make and maintain more than 1 game? (wait... common engine makes that easier, right? Oh! Sorry! Ignore that sensible logic, I forgot we're in panic mode!) And how dare they expect me to buy another game with the same tracks! At this point I do believe all racing games ever released have their own set of unique tracks! I will not yield!
Well lets hope in the near future you can release a statement, maybe even let us know how much it will affect RF2 & how it will improve RF2 if it does. The ppl are CURIOUS!
You're all looking for drama where there isn't any at the moment. And if there will be, we'll know when it comes the time. Why not have fun without the drama meanwhile?
I thought about this aswell but I came to the conclusion that there will still be quite alot of new content in the sim. From the tracks they can only use Sebring, Monza, Le Mans and Bahrain. Spa clearly needs to be updated due to the changes last year while Fuji and Portimao need to be done from scratch. On the car side it's even more drastic. From my POV you can only really use the 488 GTE and C8R as all other models are clearly not up to date visualy. There is no way that they will get away with using the Oreca, the RSR or the Vantage GTE that we have in rF2 right now. The RSR isn't even the right model. And that's just for 2023. For 2024 there is Katar that needs to be done and Interlagos and Cota are said to return to the schedule. And as there are Lambo and BMW joining the Hypercars and the GT3 class replaces the GTE class, there is still quite a bit of work to be done. Not a five minute job to say the least.
