I think they're just two speeds? Do I have to say more?
Easy to drive but hard to master.
My first V8 Vega had a 2 speed power glide. Fast but it sure wasn't as fun as the 3 speed. Kind of reminds me of that but a lot more boring because of the sterile sim environment. If you actually drive them in real life I'm sure it would be more interesting?
I bought all the FE packs but didn't even drive them properly, just bought them to support S397. Also there aren't too many leagues running them as far as i know...
@vegaguy5555 let me draw an analogy. Jelly beans.
I don't like white jelly beans (F-E style, 'no gears'). Some people really can't stand black jelly beans (historic F3 - ok, that's very unlikely, but let's stick to the story). If I buy a bag of jelly beans (the game) and there are white ones, I'll eat them anyway (first, usually, to get them out of the way). If they buy a bag they'll throw away the black ones (or give them to a friend).
I wouldn't buy a bag of white jelly beans, and they wouldn't buy a bag of black. None of that means either white or black jelly beans shouldn't be made anymore (otherwise, because everyone has different likes and dislikes, eventually none will be made at all).
F-E is growing in popularity, and it probably makes business sense to get on board. One day I'll probably get them, too, and I'll have to learn to drive with no (or very few) gear changes and managing energy. Different skills to learn, new challenge, I don't see the harm.
When I watched a first generation FE race and the announcers mentioned there'd be a new model the next year so swapping cars mid-race would no longer be a feature, it was obvious that buying rF2's first generation FE would only be for historical interest, so I skipped doing so.
Second generation FE for rF2 is now available and we've got two official tracks, so I'm leaning more towards a purchase. In fact, I would have purchased, but they weren't included in the Steam sale. Just not interested enough to buy without a Steam sale. A third official track might push me over the edge though
Well I don't like brown FWD M&Ms?
I only eat the red race ones, I'm still slow though. .
If you dis m&ms we can't be friends
Yes, red ones are better...
I took the plunge, and bought the Gen 2 Formula E cars (didn't bother with the initial F-E releases). Didn't get the tracks though.
I decided to test them out by cutting a few laps around Lakeside
On first impressions, they're actually a bit of a handful on default setup.
Once you get over the lack of engine sound, it's the two speed gearbox that is probably the most difficult
thing to come to grips with. On default the car compress locks easily if you down shift too early.
Apart from that, they're not too bad a drive. Plus, the 2020 liveries look ace.
Yeh but anything is good around Lakeside.
Except brown .FWD...Smarties!
the E cars look great here at Miseluk
That track doesn't look regulation FE goat track width.
Pushin' it a bit with the smarties response. Were you being a smarties rrrr's?? I get it though, I normally drive a red one but it's in for a warranty respray (f##ckin Mazda Crystal Soul Red) and they've given me a........brown one.
Bloody hell Jimmy, I was just drinking some water as I read "and they've given me a........brown one."
Luckily I was quick enough to turn away from the pc and lucky it's only water on the carpet!
Glad to be of assistance with your spring carpet cleaning sir, my apologies for being a tad late, it's been a busy season. Invoice is on the way. (another satisfied customer )
down shift too early? aren't you supposed to stay in 2nd the whole lap? and I'm pretty sure that these are one of the first cars to have a brake by wire system which makes them easy to lock
tbh, I bought rfactor 2 for the white jelly beans
Not all the people as i bought into FE and dont drive it !
