I would like to see those wanting laser scans to try getting point cloud data into a drivable mesh that doesn't make a super computer grind to a halt. You will be surprised how big each polygon is

Think we'll get an April update before the next build is released?

I'd be happy to have the new build (if it's ready) in lieu of an April roadmap. ;)

Completely agree,it's definitely not necessary, but people believe this bs which was quoted by the fanboys of a certain title, struggling to justify the cost of that title.
I my self rely don't car if this bump or that bump isn't there,it's not like me or probably 80% of sim racers are going to be racing there in rl anyway lol.
Plus I'm always amazed by how accurate the non laser scanned tracks are, compared to the lazer scanned, but a lot of folks just won't even bother to try out non lazier scanned stuff, sad really

My point is this website should be a one stop shop for all info. Yes have different sections or at least a tab to an external link. You stop in one place to find the directions for your answer whether its modding, forum or general live chat.

What if they haven't had time to fill us in on those things you mention, you would still moan.
Just sit back and await an announcement, they will give the info when they are ready.
Or are you happy with a very vague sentence leaving out all the details

They said that we will receive a big update at the beginning of may, there is not much else I need to know as we just need to wait 2 or 3 weeks.

after getting very familiar with certain laser tracks the non-laser versions are unusable for me,
    with exceptions :

    ISI lime rock park
    ISI Indianapolis
    ISI Silverstone

these are done very well , considering there was no laser cloud to work with quite incredible really

a lot of other tracks lack character and the slight cambers/bumps/small detail and certain corners don't seem right

that's one of the reasons historic tracks are great because they no longer exist and can not be really faulted (or scanned)
    I don't use fantasy tracks

Its not a moan. The game comes from steam a 1 stop shop so a lot of users need it as they aren't computer literate. I am active in trying to make rF2 better for all. Maybe you missed my tracks and the cars Im working on.

I too would prefer laser-scanned versions of tracks i really care. The most important track for me is Nordschleife and when I took a look at ACs Nordschleife mesh using 3DSimED i was impressed:
They use irregular meshes for tarmac details instead of regular meshes like rF2 uses (although rF2 is capable to use irregular meshes too afaik). That means they use small polygons for parts of the track when needed (like 10cm triangles) instead of e.g. only 1 meter squares everywhere. And these details are based on real data (assuming they made no mistakes in the process of scanning and modelling).
Of course this scanned track is only valid for one point in time (when the track got scanned, like summer 2015). Knowing what got changed after that point. Of course details change too over time. But at least it was valid for that point in time with all its details. This is OK for me.

When I had the chance to drive with a Porsche 911 GT3 as a passenger at Nordschleife I was so impressed how much details you feel with your ass and guts, constantly losing grip and getting grip often in one corner because of these track details.

I would like to know how much you feel these details via the wheel (FFB) in real. And sometime i will get me a motion sim and i want to feel these details with my ass. And then I want a detailed laser scanned track. And i want rF2 because of its detailed physics and FFB.

I drove the nords several times in rl. I haven't got ac or pcars and I just tried the laserscanned version of the nords which isn't available for rf2 anymore. I deleted it. The nords we have is fantastic. Maybe it's not 100% exact, but when I'm behind my g27 it's like I'm there again. I can barely smell the forrest and the rubber.

I do like the detail that comes with LS-tracks; using a good wheel, tactile and motion makes those little details more immersive and while some non-LS tracks may have good detail, they sometimes have repetitive bump sections on long straights or other issues. Any tracks that lack good detail feel so flat and dull when using tactile; it can actually feel unnatural. Few RL tracks are that smooth or stay that way for long.

Personally, I'm less concerned with absolute detail accuracy - especially in regard to chronology and track surface changes but, I do want the detail and knowing it's reasonably accurate is icing on the cake. Elevation changes are something that should be replicated accurately - especially in cases where turns & elevation affect car-handling in significant ways and that may where LS has an advantage.

Non-LS tracks accuracy may be destined to forever have their accuracy questioned, so from that perspective - most people are likely to accept the results where LS is involved. I not saying it's essential but, certainly better accepted.
