As RaceNut pointed out, For me it's as much about providing a good base line for accuracy and therefore hopefully quality. It's certainly not the be all or end all. I've recently tried some raceroom content and the track quality is great.

@AMillward - I'm loving a bit of Bathurst at the moment and its great in rF2. Just a shout out to Portimao that has recently been updated. I may tentatively say one of the best looking tracks in rF2.

Can't wait to see what content is coming.

I've got Portimao, just not got round to driving it yet. I seem to be saying that a lot lately. I'll add it to the to-do list. Along with Motec...

Keeping it rf2 centric though: Road Atlanta an absolute joy to drive
Laser is cool, don't get me wrong. But it's not the end of the world if it's not and it's well made.

Hopefully the laser scanned track we get soon is a fun one.
Ooooh yeah!. Did a 20 and a 40 minute league race there last night in the GT3's using a OSW SimuCUBE.
It was so good I didn't really care that a fair chunk of time I was racing the clock without another car in site.
You know you're on a well made track, accurate or not, when all you are doing is having a blast.
It rates highly in the looks department so it gets 3 out of 3 rubber chickens from me.

laser scanned vs non laser scanned is on the whole is night & day +well done ones are of the highest quality in so many other ways to the user than just knowing one is in a point cloud where all scale & proportions etc just seem totally correct even if one has not been there, the laser tracks are sooooooo much better , happy for others to disagree if they have a vast amount of experience driving on laser tracks & feel differently of course, no problems

Lime Rock Park was laser scanned by iRacing in "Nov 18, 2011 - ... hire a contractor from Leica to scan Lime Rock park for us. It was great of Lime Rock to let us do it at the time as a complete experiment. The Leica contractor scanned about 34 hours straight and the iRacing team was pretty excited about it at the time because they could see the potential of laser scanning."

Look video below Lime Rock Park rFactor2 vs real life and then take few laps in iRacing at Lime Rock Park and tell me if iRacing laser scanned Lime Rock Park is as you described above.o_O

Why have I never driven this track!?

Why have I never driven this track!?

Because it is a very unterrated track, to some extent even unknown especialy compared to more famous FIA grade tracks. Wich is a shame, because it is a very demanding track due to it's layout (despite it's shortage) and has a long history, especialy for sportscar racing. They use it for the Skip Barber Driving school for a reason and I honestly find it alot more engaging than most FIA tracks. The flow is very interesting, due to the elevation changes and you can work with different lines. As with most NA tracks, they are simply more interesting than most European tracks. :)

Quite a lot of my favourite tracks are those more suited to touring car/club level racing: Symmons Plains, Donington, Brands Indy, Mallory Park, Road Atlanta, Knockhill, most of the Aussie tracks etc.

But like the post above says- the US has some cracking road courses, but all people will ever talk about is Laguna Seca.

In fact, my top three favourite tracks are not even in Europe.

when are we going to have more laser scan circuits?
When is going to check the color palette within the game?
When will the new interface be introduced?

thanks
