rain is rarely transparent. The grey clouds usually create a background that causes rain to appear dark. But I come from the the Pacific NW, so we are used to more of a drizzle than a proper downpour....Seattle, drizzles for weeks if not months during the wintertime. I've read, that NY City has more annual rainfall than Seattle, but many fewer actual days of rain. The time I spent in Texas was a real eye opener. IT FREAKIN rains down there!

You know that as a first step we will be releasing a new HUD design based on our current technology (with some of the added features we released in the last build) and a completely different HUD with plugin support will be a next step.

 

@LokiD but worth also mentioning he didn't commit to the next HUD step being released at any particular point, so shouldn't associate it with the roadmap update. I mean, hey, let's hope, but nothing's been said.

What's the recommended hardware specs to get my rf2 to look that good at 1080p?
Obviously my i5 4460 & GTX 750 TI isn't enough since I had to turn several settings down to medium/low to get good framerate.

i5 4460 is more than enough, you just need a GPU around GTX 1060 level, which are unfortunately a bit overpriced at the moment due to the cryptocurrency mining insanity going on.

 

They've laser scanned their first track, according to the January update.

I would love the scanned Nordschleife Laser, that's what I hope most for the content.

But let's be clear, for obscure reasons, they have made it clear many times that they would not do it.

I would never play Assetto Corsa because it's too unrealistic, but I've already donated about as much money to KUNOS as to ISI/S397 :

Because I use 95% of the time the illegal version of Nordschliefe from of AC, I have in principle paid twice the game and once the DLC which contains the Nordschliefe. But comrade, do not dream, we have about 0.0001% chance to have it one day.

It's true that FE's circuits, on which none of us will ever ride, are much more exciting than the "Mother of All Circuits".

On the other hand, starting to do scanned laser circuits is a good start. Better late than never.

And yes, SPA is a very good choice for laser.

 

It'll be Mugello, Donnington, Oserschleben or similar. No point in going in straight and doing the "big tracks". Start small, perfect it as it is brand new to this sim, then do the so called "mother of all tracks". That said, not many of us are ever going to drive the Nords either, especially those outside of Central Europe.

I don't understand the obsession with the Nordschleife, but that's me.
