I'm not sure where you're getting 7 from, there are definitely no nodes defined in the realtime section, but I'm not familiar with how the realtime model does things either. Do you have a reference for that?

In addition to the nodes, the number of sections used has increased, originally it was 120 or so, more recent tyres are 200+. I'm pretty sure (based on the realtime bristles parameters) they're all used in realtime at least. But could be wrong :)

Anyway, there's definitely been an increase in CPU demand over time, but hardware has improved much more over that time. I'm just about to upgrade which should keep me safe for a few years yet.

THe way I see it is, all the data from the tyre generation are translated to those points seen in the first 2 two pictures. Has the number of sections increased in realtimemodel, I dont know. If someone has older build installed it can be easily checked

@Jokeri Ah, excellent, thanks for that. I didn't keep up with those blog posts at the time so missed that bit (and only played with ttool a little very early on), that makes sense. That probably explains a change in a relatively early build where they said more sections were being used in realtime, when obviously the tyres themselves wouldn't have changed. Good stuff :)
 
This Update is so nice!
I cant directly compare any numbers but iam going from
shadows - mid to max and blur fast to quality
road reflections - low to high
opponent detail - mid to high
special effects - low to high
AA - 2 to 3
and visible vehicles from ~15 to always 20 with the same fps like before, thank you guys @S397!
It seems that now, where the most options can be ignored, we could need the old per track circuit-detail ...thing...(?) from rF1 back.
There is only one Problem...
I had switched the car reflections from off to high, but it seems like the update rate is really low for me now (at high like on low before) and imo the rate is more important than the reflection detail so i had to deactivate it again.
Is that a bug? I remember them to be smooth at high, and i have no fps drop or auto detail fps activated.
 
The second time I ran into this problem. The problem appeared for the first time at Silverstone.

The problem appears suddenly, after rebooting rF2 everything again comes to normal. At this time FPS 138-140 and does not fall. CPU utilization is about 35%, video ~ 40%.

What could it be?
 
Hi I'm having an issue with the new delta bar - it's in my central virtual mirror! I want to move the virtual mirrors up a little but, the central one at least. I tried a few things in player file but they did not work, the values go back to 0 when I play. How can I move the virtual mirrors up a bit?
 
Does it happen with stock content only?
The first time it happened with GT3 Pack at Silverstone.
Now it ACFL 2017 at Baku. I can not understand the patterns. The problem appears suddenly and after the restart rF2 disappears. I run rF2 almost every day and this problem only occurred 2 times.

In the graphics setup thing, does it select your video card, or say auto? If auto, choose your graphics card from the list.

Patching a dead horse is ridiculous, start new.

Now when rf2 looks and runs very good it needs new UI to look good in the menus too.
Looking forward to online racing system, new content, laser scanned tracks, further updates and improvements...
