As mentioned in previous Steam threads.... an example is "Kerbal Space Program" they are able to have a standalone and Steam versions side by side. Although once people got their Steam keys, their build remained on Steam for the future.
I wonder if ISI is able to exploit the Steam Workshop? Or perhaps because of the grey area of intellectual property which mods contain it may not.
VAC.... You already need the correct content installed to join a multiplayer server, so everyone is racing on the same track with the same cars.
