Let's face it. Most IRL tracks, and especially IRL combos, suck in sim racing from a driving perspective. People who insist on IRL are delusional that what they do in sim is any indication of ability IRL. Same goes for those who think winning online race against random people without ranking is meaningful. [/OT]
I don't use fantasy tracks & never really have, only interested in high quality RR tracks if I ever get into ovals though I don't think I'd mind fantasy as I'm sure in most cases they'll be something very similar in the RR
Soooo.. How about them palms in that screenshot, eh? Looking good. [hoping this thread won't also turn into a bitch fest like so many other current threads have]
Normally I wouldn't respond to this but I'm waiting for my food so I have a moment. There's nothing professional about having your ego stroked by winning a non-ranked race against random drivers. There's also nothing unprofessional about purposeful offline racing on fantasy tracks. I find the faux snobbery by slow drivers around online and IRL to be hilarious ; even by Internet standards. Being a professional has nothing to do with being politically correct; or even liked ; unless you are a marketer or politician which there appear to be plenty around here... Food is here gotta go carry on...
1. You mention "slow drivers" a lot in your posts as if they are some kind of 2nd class citizen while at the same time talking about "snobbery". The irony is strong in you. 2. There's no such thing as a "professional" in sim racing. It's a game. I don't care if you are "ranked" or even earn money doing it. No matter how good you are, it's still a video game and you're still a video gamer. Not a "professional"
1) http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/faux 2) you are obviously young or new to sim racing ; I'll let others explain it to you
I thought RF2's Quebec was initially a fictional track and I thought RF1's Orchard Lake was fictional for a LONG time - years. When I eventually found out they're actually real-life tracks, well, nothing changed - my past races/experiences there didn't magically become better. Driving them from that moment-on with the new-found knowledge they're real-life tracks didn't/hasn't magically changed the physics of the tracks, nor the graphics, nor the atmoshpere/character, and so on. Nothing changed by me gaining knowledge of the tracks happening to really exist on Earth. Vice-versa as-well... I thought RF1's Lienz was a real-life event and track for a while. There are many similiar events/"rallys" in Europe. When I later found out Lienz was fictional, well, my past races/experiences there didn't magically become worse. Driving Lienz from that moment-on with my new-found knowledge of it being a fictional track didn't/hasn't magically changed the physics of the track, nor the graphics, nor the atmoshpere/character, and so on. Nothing changed by me gaining knowledge of the track happening to not exist on Earth. P.S. I still don't even know if RF2's Palm Beach is a fictional or non-fictional track. And I don't need to know. Why should I? The physics, graphics, character, layout, etc. as-well as my past and future experiences of the track will not change if I discover it to exist or not exist in real-life.
