In terms of geometry it'll be as realistic as the source was, don't think the track team would redo the layout.
It sure is!!!!! All the shots I have seen look authentic and like a "real place." Exactly what every track maker is hoping for, I assume.
Not sure... depends on how they did the 'source'. Haven't seen a Bathurst yet that was correct enough to look right from behind the wheel (layout). But here's hoping! *just to avoid confusion: by 'they' I mean the third party, not ISI.
after driving the laser scanned version I fear this is not going to float my boat, but I love to be proven wrong, ISI non laser tracks are some of the best IMO ( why I hope to utilise the fantastic rf2 historic & gokart content when Isi goes VR as no one has done this better ) screen shots look lovely , dynamic light transitions .....drool ( something Iracing can not do ) +graphics in rf2 are totally super now Isi's hard work is really paying off
The best Bathurst I've seen outside iRacing is in pCARS. I'm talking about the elevation changes and the corners/width etc. and not the graphics. The pCARS version drives like the iRacing version except for "The dipper", that's just an almost. This is the only reason I have pCARS on my PC.
But, like Tim said, if the track team thought the source was inaccurate, they would have had to redo the layout. Which they didn't. So good for all, I guess.
Hex - I think you misunderstood Tim's statement. As I read it, regardless of the accuracy, the track team was not going to spend the time making changes to the mesh.
ORSMs rf1 version was pretty damn accurate, can't remember the pCars one. I've been comparing these shots to my pictures and so far so good
ORSMs was mostly good, but a few discernible differences to real life. The section after skyline was the main issue, some of it you could pick from real life onboards vs the game and others were obvious when I got my hands on aerial photography of the track and laid the AIW over it. Don't get me wrong though, I did my share of laps on it And yeah, hex, what Emery said: the ISI track team were never going to work on the geometry, so it's up to the third party as far as accuracy goes. But it sure does look good from the screenshots.
I agree with you on the ORSM version. It was indeed very good IMO. This track coming has me so excited. As a school boy I won a cross country foot race around Mt Panorama (talk to me about elevation changes at Forest elbow your feet can hardly keep up with your body). I grew up watching the Australian legends such as Brock, Moffat, Perkins, Johnstone, Grice do battle. My own uncle blew an engine on Conrod straight in 5th outright in a Torana GTR XU1. We saw the foreign talent start to arrive with the legend Jacky Ickx. I was there personally for the 1987 race which featured the Sierras of Soper M3s of Cecotto and others, Richards in the 535, the M/B 190 Cosworth. The late Stefan Bellof also drove. I live in the UK so the chance to drive this track is like a trip home. Bring it on guys, there will be a Bathurst Festival. 1000km 12 hrs etc. The ISI Gt cars are epic around there BTW.
