Nice reading but in overall there is nothing we don't know already. Maybe about single thing: 12month based subscription for matchmaker, updates, news.

I have a question related to this: will it be required to get further updates? Or optional, so user will be able to download updates in other way?

Current plan is that you'll be able to download them manually.

@Tim are you taking pre-orders like rFactor?

Things that stood out to me...

    1. The beta will probably only be available to modders
    2. ISI is even smaller than I thought (10 instead of 20)
    3. Somebody other than Tim wrote the server section

Cost is yet to be determined. More details will follow on that. But I doubt it'll hurt too much. :)

The open beta will probably serve as that.

    1. For a period, they'll be the only ones being listened to as they are the target of the test. But everything I have heard doesn't point towards us stopping a non-modder from taking part.
    2. What a bunch of cool guys. :)
    3. Indeed!

So you will be required to pay every 12 months in order to race online? Am I reading this right or is it a one off payment like rfactor is?

Sounds to me like there'll be a small fee for a 12 month license to use the matchmaker service - ie getting a list of servers so you can search for and join whichever one takes your fancy. Doesn't make specific mention but I'd guess direct connection isn't affected. I'd also suggest this fee would be a small part of the initial outlay, so you wouldn't be paying the 'full price' every year, just the matchmaker fee.

No doubt some people won't like this (well, in 1 other thread at least it's obvious), but it sounds like the requirements on the ISI side for the service will be a bit more involved due to stated improvements in mod&track matching (and mismatch reduction/elimination), so if it's going to cost them a fair bit to have it running it makes sense that those using it help pay for it. And if you don't like it... don't use it :)

i don't like a pay year by year, i prefer to pay all in one solution.

in that case it would be very similar to iracing :(

    Lot of moaning for nothing.

Wait to know how much will it be. If it's 5$ every year, i dont see the trouble.
