I ask because of my YouTube channel I have been giving some attention to lately. I am still trying to get everything working better with lighting, which has gotten too bright somehow. I found a graph and there it showed gender. Sure there was more men checking out my driving 'ego rush' but I was surprised to see some women or maybe it was just one lady (if I would take the time to do the math) looked at some of my videos. Which got me thinking........how many women are here in rFactor 2?? If any??
If In these forums, I would be surprised if there were even half a dozen, but if you are asking about the world of sim-racing more broadly, I've run across at least a dozen over the years, three of them all the way back in GPL. And of course it may well be that we all owe the early adoption (by Papyrus) of the ability to race live online in no small part to a women--one Alison HIne--who was enamored enough of the idea of racing head-to-head once she beta-tested it she pestered and pushed them to include it in the release of Grand Prix Legends (it was already possible in NASCAR sims thru TEN). It eventually would have been possible, but she helped make it possible THEN. When I last raced rFactor (1) online (thru a German site called bockbierbude) there was a very quick lady who, I found out later, was a real-world professional racer (FIA GT level or its German equivalent) of championship caliber (that in her real-world series). Can't remember clearly now except that her name might have been "Stef," last name also beginning with an S...Shuler, etc. She was quick, always right up front in the DRM mod we raced then anyway.... Women are out there, but usually keep a low profile. They not only have to avoid getting hit--they also have to deal with getting "hit on." Something the rest of us usually don't.... [Well known real-world male racers usually keep a low sim-racing profile too for other reasons]. CS
[Obvious sexist joke alert] Dunno, but I've seen a fair few people drive like women in sim racing... <groan>
