This Cup is currently going ahead.
The original reason I came up with this was to help BB with server costs. Many of us race there, and have for a long time.
Entry is by optional $5 donation to BB's Paypal - help him keep this fine server up (for ALL of us!).
    Paypal: f3fanatics@yahoo.com
Please remember to note in the payment what your drivers name is somewhere, and let us know below!

    Come one, come all....
    ....moderate glory awaits!

    Entries closes 6th March.

Maximum 32 drivers. Open entry, no signups! All managed right from here ;)
If you want to race in ANY rnds - put your name down NOW!

    F3 FANATICS WORLD CUP
    Build 494

    Round One:
    March 7th/8th
    [IMG]

An informal cup inspired by the fun, fairness and fine racing that is to be had daily on the F3 Fanatics server, hosted by Bryan Birtwell.
A fun, flat playing field for all, with a touch of competition ;)

    THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.
Or three, really. Yes. There can be only three.

Super Marshals are BB (Bryan Birtwell) and Gingerbread Man, plus whomsoever we decide. Suggestions/nominations welcome.
A Super Marshal can be overruled by another Super Marshal, PLUS a majority vote of present drivers (marshal group only).
    5Gbps, US-based server.

    Well rubbered!

Spectators welcome! (Massive 50+ spectator capacity!)*

*Note: QUIET spectators. Drivers MUST have messages on, for admin/marshal reasons (skipping voice for now).
As a result, spectator booting will be quick, silent and without further fuss or warning. This was the warning. Ssssh.

God knows why you wouldn't want to be a driver.....

Rules*: <--------------------------------------*These rules have been debated, thought through, posted, revised, deleted, compromised and finally reposted. There is a good reason for all of them. Feel free to question why below!

    5 tracks, in order:

    • Spa, Belgium: (Belgium1966 v1.43) - 6 laps - approx 18 litres per lap. Approx 28min race.
    • Brianza, Italy: (Brianza1966 v1.44) - 12 laps - approx 10 litres per lap. Approx 24min race.
    • Longford, Australia: (Longford1967 v0.92) - 12 laps - approx 12 litres per lap. Approx 34min race.
    • Lienz, Austria: - (Lienz V0.92)- 8 laps?
    • Nurburgring, Germany: - 3 laps?

*Driver circuit detail must be set to HIGH! Please lower other settings to compensate if you have an older video card. This is to even out the debris visualisation problems.

*Cockpit view only. You can choose either Eve or Spark, or change between races.

*All driver aids disabled, however auto-clutch will be allowed.

*Standing start after 30min qual. No hotlap.

*In-game messages must be on. Drivers must be capable of reading Marshal announcements.

*Entrants will be split into 2 random groups every week, as decided by employ of an online 'random' generator. One group races, while second group watches and fulfils cnr marshal/ref duties.

*One race per week, per group. 10 rounds in total, 10 weeks. Each driver races each track twice (over 2 weeks) - allowing a chance to make up for first unlucky placings or missed races.

*Position at the end of each race, denotes awarded race points - in reverse. The total points awarded to first place, equals the number of drivers (i.e. 16), with last place receiving 1 point.

*Any driver who successfully wins their two group races on the same track, shall be named King of 'Track X', and awarded an extra 4 points.

*Potentially, there can be 2 Kings per track. In this case ''Real'' King shall be decided via forum flame war.

*Each race will begin with a 30min qualifier, then straight to a standing start race - no warmup or hotlap.

*Drafting other drivers during qualifying (only), is to be considered cheating. Submitting a draft-assisted qual time, will put you at the end of the grid! It is important that your best submitted time is SOLO.

*Esc OUT, if you receive any significant draft or push advantage - before crossing the line. 30mins is enough time to achieve an unassisted solo qualifying run. This will be monitored.

*A pitstop will be required in every race, enforced by fuel load.

*Tire change is NOT compulsory, but wear is heavy.

*Damage multiplier is at 23%. Full flag rules. In the event of a crash, heading for pits and sallying forth is almost certainly worth it.

*Ignoring rules or penalties will result in a DQ for race. A Cup DQ will be handed out for cheating, or repeat unsportsmanlike behaviour.

*ALL entrants MUST be on server by posted time, regardless of group. This is a community thing and we need your assistance!!

    First group race:
    03:00am Saturday 8th March GMT (UTC+00:00) (London)
    14:00pm Saturday, 8th March AEDT (UTC+11:00) (Melbourne/Sydney)
    20:00pm Friday, 7th March MST (UTC-07:00) (Denver)

    Second group race:
    After first race ends.

Beware - dive-bombing will be harshly dealt with. This has always been a server for fun - first and foremost.
    1) Leave space when attempting an overtake. 2) He who is in front, has the corner.
These are some controversial rules. A hungry driver can - technically speaking - a) force a driver offroad, b) cause him to crash, c) force him to rapidly brake...
...and get away with it - assuming they are MORE than half a car length ahead, even if they are initially offline/outside/wide. By taking a corner sharply (instead of wide), they can ensure a), b) or c).
In sim racing this behaviour often leads to a crash. Very often. In real life it is intolerably dangerous, and is what causes drivers to leap out of cars at each other.
The requirement to leave space is not a harsh handicap and is applied to all equally. If you cannot imagine yourself going offline and wide for another driver - please, do not come!
Choose your overtaking points carefully, and have patience. Leave SPACE. Penalties will range from a drive through or stop-n-go, to a plain DQ. "Sorry" will not cut it.

Just come along with the attitude of fair play for all. Easy! This is not an actual professional, international event - so stay calm ;)*

    *
Then again, I would like to see an actual international professional come and TRY to take podium.....
    ...just look at these drivers:

Correct. Despite the fact that pole was not racing hard for first corner as they would in Cup, the example here is to ensure you leave adequate space to avoid such things in the actual Cup. Since there was no more space left for the yellow car, you imposed a dodging/braking situation. Just a race incident, but something we would like to avoid/see less of in this particular event - for the enjoyment of all. What you did may not be considered technically wrong by many - even most! But I was commenting (at the time) on a LACK of an attempt to leave space in the upcoming event. The more people are concerned about it, the less incidences we will have. I don't see why it is something so astonishing. It is so easy to drive like this against others. I just don't (at least on purpose). Yet I am still competitive. That is what the Cup needs. Consideration is part of what makes !F3 Fanatics a different server.

Don't forget to put your driver name down so I can add it! It is something different not having to sign up to a website/team to race.......!

Hey Nand, great intro to the series. : )

One of things I'd like to say about the event and my server in general is. Drive politely. Period.

This is to be a fun event. There's no big name wheel or cockpit waiting for the season's overall winner.

These cars have proven themselves to be an absolute blast to race. I say they are the best for close racing.

Come one come all. If you're not fast, one of the "F3 Fanatics!" regulars will help you to become fast, safe, and consistant.

    Bryan

    oi mate

Yeah join up people bunch of pussies !

    hehehe :)

    Spa
We need a big group to test pit stops.
If we going to use 7x we have no pit window ( lap 3 stop ) so more likely to get box troubles.
    I did a few 6 lap runs.
I like the 25 minute distances and the pitstop.
Damage seems reasonable at 50% too.

I know it was my idea to make one mod, I think now that was a mistake.
We may have to eventually get BB to make 4 mods I think and swap them once a day.
So each track will have right laps and we can test fuel load for 24 hours.

    DOING PITSTOPS

I was going to do a post on it as there is things you can do or need to know besides the obvious in my original thread at F3 ROOKIES.

    http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.p...-Changes-to-Room?p=64966&viewfull=1#post64966

    1. For a start you need to select 1 stop and 80 liters of fuel and save it to your setup...OFFLINE ( you can't save tyres NO Change )

    2. In race any time on lap 1 or 2 hit PIT REQUEST
On a good straight section select Tyres NO Change for all tyres.
Wait till you get message PIT CREW READY
Hit Pit request again ie: request no pit stop
Now your tyres will be set for stop so you do not have to rush in last 30 seconds before stop

    3. In a F3 at Belgium hit the PIT REQUEST just before Blanchimont ( 2nd last left corner ) You will see PIT CREW READY message just before you enter pits.

    4. If you hit PIT REQUEST much later your crew will not be ready and you will need to slow before entering pit-lane which you don't want

    5. If you do enter pit-lane before your Crew is ready you will not see your box.

    Testing 50% seems okay today.

What i meant mate was next 3 weeks if we practice all tracks with same mod BB will have to change laps, when he is not on we can't.

So if from now till Spa race we run one track a day BB can set the right amount of laps and we can work out fuel window / load for each track separately.
