Tim's Oculus Rift review:

Thanks for posting this Hexagramme, and Tim thanks for making this vid and tell us your thoughts about it. I'm glad you're not sceptic anymore about virtual reality. :D
And for those who missed it, Tim said "I've tried LFS because we at our company haven't implemented it fully yet

I don't want to suggest here that ISI ever said they wouldn't support VR/oculus

You're very welcome Eddy. :)

And Tim I also want to thank you for making this video. I really enjoyed. You touch on all the subjects and issues I was interested in, before fully deciding on going VR when the Rift hits the consumer market.

Extremely interesting stuff about the motion sickness, and how it helps having something static move along with you. I would probably never use the device for first person shooters... but you never know.

I mean, GTA V experienced through the Rift... who could say no to that?? :D

This is a very objective review. Tim pointed out the main good and not so good things. The most important thing and message is (IMO) you have to try this device to know of what we are speaking.
The main disadvantage at this point (the resolution) is IMO solved because we know from the past how fast the progress of technology can be if the demand is their.
So if the progress of this technology don't slow down then I'm pretty sure the time where we have to use triple screen is very limited.

IRL I do gliding (airplane) and every year at the begin of the season I have to fight with motion sickness I tell this because I think it is a similar situation.
The trick for me and I think Tim's recommendation with the FPS Shooter (where you can see your hand or device) point in the same direction is not try to lock or focus the moving horizon.
Normally it takes for me 1-3 hours with brakes that means my first flights are always very short until the sickness is gone for the rest of the season.

I neither can nor will ever switch to triple screens, so for me the Rift will be the perfect solution I think. I am very pleased with what I'm hearing about it, and can't wait to start racing with it.

I can not ever justify having three hd monitors for racing just to have a wider view. I find it too much really, plus I can't afford it, nor can my GPU handle it. So... I'm ready to step into the world of VR when the consumer Rift hits the market, for sure. :)

It's obvious that the resolution has to increase quite a bit before it's a completely enjoyable experience. But I'm sure they're on that and will fix it.

Based on what i've seen from dk1 to dk2, not as much as you might think. Yes, resolution needs to increase a lot before it reaches monitor level pixel details (maybe 3k would do it). But in terms of usability, although dk1 and dk2 were not the same screen technology and pixel arrangement, dk1's 800p to dk2's 1080p doesn't sound like much at all but it turned out to be a exponentially better experience and visual clarity (i was gob smacked). DK1 you couldn't even read text but with dk2 you can. DK1's semi-clarity was limited to near-by objects whilst dk2's is near-by to medium distant objects. Far distant objects get a boost as well ofc but pixels are still too big to make distant objects clear.

40L/second is a 1000 times faster fuel rate than a car with 10 miles/gallon usage at say 30mph (0.038L/second).

That's an insane fuel flow rate.

1000 times greater fuel rate for only a 33 times greater speed. 97% lower fuel efficiency, lol. Not bad though when considering it'll be doing ~Mach 1.3 on the ground.

Probably been posted already, but cool enough for another look.

Wish I could speak German.
Walter looks kind of how I'd expect Vettel to look at that age.
They could play father and son in a racing movie.

Tim's Oculus Rift review:

Indeed, thanks hexa for posting this and thanks also to Tim for the review/opinions, very interesting to see/hear.

Well reviewed imo.

I`d love to be able to get a shot with the OC to test it out before having to (or deciding to) possibly get one but not sure if that`ll ever happen.

Definitely looks like an interesting bit of kit though. :)
