Is there more input lag when driving online than offline? If so does the distance from your computer to the server make a difference? This question is not only about rF but all racing sims. I've done a bit of research on the subject but it's hard to find information that is specific to racing sims and wheel inputs.
All games online does that people around the world have lower or higher ping from the server that host a game. Lowest ping you have when do lan games as Dreamhack when all people is connected to each other then online. http://www.dreamhack.se/DHS11/2011/01/25/dates-for-2011-2012 Lowest ping when do a game you get if game server is in same country as your self. Low ping means less delay no so called lag then it is up to the server host to tweak server settings to get lower pings for all people. If server not can be edited allow max upload is a good idea that server host have. So simplest explain input lag. Online vs. Offline is that Offline always have 1 ms in ping , online from 6 ms too 800 in ping. Depend on what country server host from and what country are you in
Tripp... nice info for new guys, but it's got nothing to do with the question. Cdn, it really shouldn't matter. The whole engine does its thing regardless of where you're driving; none of your actual telemetry is sent to the server, so there's no reason the server interaction will affect any of it. Sometimes you hear of people saying they can drive faster/slower online than offline, but it's probably a combination of time-of-day and lower framerates with other cars around.
