Hello sim racers! The next new car coming to rFactor 2 we would like to reveal is... INDYCAR! Read all about it on the link below: https://www.studio-397.com/2022/02/announcing-indycar-ir-18/
Refreshing that ALL the teams will be represented. I wonder how January 'would' have gone had S397 been able to announce and release all of this PRIOR to Christmas. Will the P2P & Weight Jacker be open so modders can insert those features in other series that use them?
Might be connected to Motorsport Games having the IndyCar-license. The first IndyCar-game will be in 2023, however, they may have the license for 2022 content as well. Smart to use rF2 as a test-bed for things then!
Great news! I hope making single player custom championships will be made easier as well to make use of the real liveries/drivers. More US indycars tracks would be cool as well
Excellent addition. I just hope that push 2 pass and wedge aren't the 'physics features' we've been waiting for.
They are though. It will continue to be a minimal effort in core and simulation aspect, it's what I'm expecting from now on.
It took about seven and a half. Edit: Or if I count correctly, it was only five after your post. So, you nailed it.
Fantastic car. I was especialy delighted to read, that there will be all teams and drivers included. One thing I would like to see is the version without the aeroscreen added and the older DW12 recieving an update aswell. I hope that I didn't read "superseding" as removing that car from the sim. Don't forget that you can conserve cars that aren't raced anymore in the virtual world. There is a reason why people still fire up GTR2.
3rd mod project "killed" this week. Though its great S397 are makings these cars and tracks, but I wish somehow S397 would silently contact those modding teams who are making what S397 have in near pipeline, to avoid this. I think these modding teams would respect the secret, if they were informed about it, and take the opportunity to shift in other directions.
Trust me. I wish that the 3PA system would make a return. That way both modders, S397 and us players would get all the positives from it. However, it is slightly risky to mod things that the rF2 owners have a license of. Of course, there was no guarantee that IndyCar would show up in rF2, but it's not a big surprise. Daytona has been rumored for a long time as well. Granted, I must admit I thought it wouldn't happen when it didn't get released pre-Rolex 24. The LMP3 one was a bit more "out there" as it is not a part of WEC. I would assume that modern BTCC cars, and possibly the Le Mans Hypercars/LMDh(GTP) is a slightly risky thing to mod as well, as I wouldn't be surprised if some of that content finds its way into rF2. Especially the hybrid-stuff. I think this is the best way for Motorsport Games to test out these things before the "main games" get released. I would expect TCR, GT4, Historic content, LMP1 and these things to be "safe" to mod in terms of not getting official DLC with it.
