Nono, I mean the actual sounds that we are hearing, not the way they are mixed or anything. Just saying that people may be expecting to hear a muffled version of the exhaust sound when they are incar. In my mind, you would hear quite a lot of induction noise from the intake, as with a modern openwheeler your head is right below the intake. Same kinda thing on a motorbike, head is right over the airbox so you get a lot of the awesome sounding induction noise XD That weird and interesting sound as the escort is coming towards the camera haha
New sounds show how important factor in racing games/sims are sounds. There is still some echo noticable, but overall feelings are very good. To be honest, sounds are one of the reasons why I love drive DRM mod Good job guys.
All comparisons are impossible. The place, the regime and others are that you can not compare with the sounds of the game I think the sound in general are pretty good. And since the last update are excelents. thank you ISI
One thing I really think will need to be improved soon is the sounds of the gear shifting, in the FR3.5 in particular, it's very "clunky", like a gated shifter's sound. It's also too "scripted" in my opinion, where EVERY downshift has a loud backfire. I just think the samples could work well, but tone it down a bit.
Seems I sit up in my chair every time I hear something about sim sound. I really like the progress I've heard in rF2 so far! Two short things I would like to add. 1) Let's get an "active" transmission modelling update to rF2. They did it for iRacing I heard, and it solves the need for scripted gear shift warble (aka Enduracers) because the warble will then happen dynamically and correctly. I.e. how we wanted it to be for the last decade... I can't believe it when I hear that sound is a low priority for any developer, but it seems an acceptable excuse if you want to do sound properly and link it with game engine improvement -no easy task. 2) Watching the VLN video, makes me think there should also be a separate transmission whine sample per gear. When you go through sequential straight cut gears, every gear tends to have its own particular noise. To do this I'm guessing about 6 transmission samples per gearbox type, 3 on 3 off, extra memory usage factored in, should be enough to create the desired effect. Then just assign "sampleset1" played on 1st and 4th gear. "sampleset2" played on 2nd and 5th gear, etc. You should end up with a pretty faithful sounding gearbox I recon. I'd like to see that happen in the future.
A sequential box will make quite a lot of noise shifting. Plus, depending on the method of quickshifter/throttle cut they use, you may get a rather loud pop or bang from the fuel passing into the exhaust. Simple one is to cut the spark, which passes some fuel through in the short time the ignition is cut for the gearshift. Ignites in the exhaust with a bang. In looking at that footage for the backfires with the 3.5's, it seems pretty legit to me. That would be so awesome Lets hope one day hehe
I don't like the outside gtr gt1 sounds. To much distortion and the inside sounds more like a nascar... The 3.5 is really good though.
This sounds very nice. Not sure if it was based on the 2010 car but it does now sound very much like the 2013 car. see what you think thanks
