I'm using the F1 AM 2020 cars on the Circuit d'Azur (Monaco). The cars won't get round the Station Hairpin without clattering the outer barriers. I think the steering lock is insufficient. My wheel is set to standard 360 and wheel and game animation match. Front wheels stop turning at 180 degrees, but they don't seem to turn the same angle as other cars and games - F12020 Champs get round the corner as do 397 rF2 F1 cars and F1 2020. I recall the real F1 cars used to have different steering racks for Monaco. I found the F1_AM_2020 in the Installed/Vehicles folder. I've extracted the F1_AM_2020_MAIN.mas file and I guess somewhere in the .ini files are some settings for steering lock. Having looked in some .ini files, they seem to have the required info. Can they be adjusted?? Or is it all much more difficult than that??
@CRMS You can use a Tool from my Website to do that. If it's a normal configured Mod, you have to upload the HDV File.
@redapg Thanks. Using your tool and Uploaded File(s): F1_2020_CHASSIS.ini / F1_2020.HDV I se that the game is set for 540 degrees and 23 degrees steering lock. My wheel is set to 360, so I guess I am not getting the full lock, only 15 degrees at 360. I'll change to 540 first. NominalMaxSteeringTorque=18 TurnsLockToLock=1.5 SteeringShaftBaseLeft=(0,0.445313,-1.175) SteeringShaftBaseRight=(0,0.445313,-1.175) SteeringShaftAxis=(0,0,-1) SteeringInnerTable=(0.18262,0.44115,-1.175)-0.14338,0.44115,-1.175) SteeringInnerTable=(0.14338,0.44115,-1.175)-0.18262,0.44115,-1.175) SteerLockCaption="WHEEL RANGE (LOCK)" SteerLockRange=(23,0,8) SteerLockSpecial=(0,"180 ","(7.7) deg","TurnsLockToLock=0.5;SteeringFraction=0.333333") SteerLockSpecial=(1,"240 ","(10.2) deg","TurnsLockToLock=0.66667;SteeringFraction=0.444444") SteerLockSpecial=(2,"270 ","(11.5) deg","TurnsLockToLock=0.75;SteeringFraction=0.5") SteerLockSpecial=(3,"310 ","(13.2) deg","TurnsLockToLock=0.86111;SteeringFraction=0.574074") SteerLockSpecial=(4,"360 ","(15.3) deg","TurnsLockToLock=1;SteeringFraction=0.666667") SteerLockSpecial=(5,"380 ","(16.2) deg","TurnsLockToLock=1.05556;SteeringFraction=0.703704") SteerLockSpecial=(6,"450 ","(19.2) deg","TurnsLockToLock=1.25;SteeringFraction=0.833333") SteerLockSpecial=(7,"540 ","(23) deg","TurnsLockToLock=1.5;SteeringFraction=0") SteerLockSetting=7
@CRMS You have taken the wrong Tool as it seems. Use this one: Modify the Angle of the Steer Lock EDIT The Tool that you did use only generates Steering Entries but it doesn't change the Lock Angle.
@redapg yes, thanks - spotted the correct one. Opened HDV, Increased steering lock by 50%. Set wheel to 540, car in game is 540 so left Calibration set to game rather than input value. But package won't load back into rF2. I guess a checksum in the F1_AM-2020.mft file has changed?? MASFile=F1_AM_2020_MAIN.mas e2cd1ad42bdbd606dcb489f24f9abc3554ac2b897a5c399eb2b7f858e28b5899 And I probably need to follow all the steps in your Update tutorial??
If you only pack your updated HDV File into the original MAS File and put it back into the original Installation Folder, the Mod gets corrupted, yes. If you choose the Method to use only a small Update rfcmp with your modified HDV, then yes, follow the Instructions from my Update Tutorial. But don't forget to reinstall the original Mod before you do it.
OK, so far but stuck after adding my modded mas file to replace the F1_AM_2020_MAIN.MAS with the Monaco Mod steering lock. Selected the file location and the normal Packages folder in Steam. But no Green I've also tried added all the other 19 mas files for individual cars etc. Adding the MFT doesn't make any difference. So no luck with the Package operation??
At the End of the packaging Process, after klicking "package" and getting the Confirmation, that it was packed without any Errors. Didn't you click "Install" then?
After clicking Package, nothing and Red box remains. I'm assuming that all the mas files from the original installed/vehicles and the modded one have to be packaged into the new rfcmp.
I was using the Mercedes. I haven't been back to run rF2 and the original mod. Will try now. I have nothing in the Packages folder.
If the original Mod is broken, unsubscribe from it and then subscribe again. That should reinstall it. In the Meantime i'll create the Update.
OK. Here is an Update, that increases the Steer Lock by 25%. Extract the rfcmp into your Packages Folder and install F1_AM_2020 Version 1.12Steer. Try it out and report if it works please.
That is so brilliant and impressively quickly done - a few minutes instead of Sunday afternoon!!. Still clatters into the barriers through too much speed oversteer, but at slow speed it works just great. With the original steering, even at crawling speed it would run wide. I note that you gave yours a label of 1.12?? As the original mod was 1.11, should be mods be incremented by one each time?? Can you explain where I went wrong please?? Thank you so much.
You're welcome. No, the Version Number of an Update don't has to be +1 or +0.1 or +0.01 of the Base Mod. You can use every Number/Name that you like. I just normally use a higher Number + something that kind of indicates for what the Update is made for, like "Steer" in this Case. And i can not tell you what went wrong, when you did try to create the Update rfcmp, because i don't know what exactly you did. But you have written, that after clicking "Package", nothing did happen, so that the rfcmp wasn't created. One possible Reason for that could be, that you have to run the MASTool as an Administrator (rightclick on it and select "Run as Administrator". Maybe insufficient Windows User Rights didn't allow the MASTool to write on the HDD/SSD.
