Hi, I seem to have an odd thing between the 2 different ways of adding AI to the game. I get more FPS if I load the track with zero AI and adding them with the 'Add AI' button, compared to if I have already set the same number of AI in the main menu then loading the track. I do not know why this is? I do two tests: Test 1 -Start single player, -Add a number of AI cars in the main menu -Load the track. -Do some benchmarks of frame rate. -Then exit to main menu, -Exit game Test 2 -Restart single player, -Set AI number to 0. -Load the same track again all with same settings apart from AI number. -Use the ‘Add AI’ to add the same number of AI as first test. -Again make a note of FPS. For me doing it this 2nd way I got loads more FPS. I do not know why or how. If you want to try make sure to exit the game between the tests. This is also the same with the unstable build too. My CPU and GPU are not throttling down, I've checked with Afterburner. I'm interested if this is same for other people too, or if it's just my weird old pc telling me to upgrade . If other people has this too then we found a bug. Cheers DJC
I haven't tried it yet but could this be some sort of caching going on like happens with the track loading always being faster the second time even if you exit the game between loads. If that's right I would expect the fps to level out over time. How long were your two benchmarks and what was the average fps from them both? This is one explanation I could think of that might be giving you this phenomenon that might not be a bug. My first thought as was yours some sort of throttling going on, I have in the past failed to trigger the boost clock presumably by not loading the gpu enough. I'll give it a try when I can but you really need to do two consistent and reasonably long benchmarks adding ai both ways and get an average (if you haven't already) How about if you swap the order of the tests, do you still see a gain?
Thanks Murtaya. Does not seem to matter what order I do tests. Could do the same tests all day. OK a benchmark.... Kart-F1's at Quebeck 10 AI Qualify session 5 laps Driving live (not replay) View attachment 12315 Test 1 average 50 FPS Test 2 average 100 FPS also I found if I watch replay, I get FPS that of Test 1.
Murtaya's post seemed logical enough, rf2 just loads faster and better when doing it a 2nd time. But double in FPS?? that's a bit much for just a re-start me thinks.
