Released Howston G4 and G6 v1.2 Released

OK, I just checked some other cars, and I don't have tire sounds on any of them. I don't know when they disappeared, and I've tried deleting recently installed cars and tracks, but it's still not working. I'm going to try the lite 300 installer next.

Running the 300 lite installer fixed it! :)

It was one of the tracks. A very poorly done conversion, so I am not losing any sleep about dumping it.

Having been in IT for many years (in a previous career), I could understand the track description length crash that happened with Build 298, as tragi-comical as it turned out to be. But an incompetently developed track affecting just one car in such a peculiar and bizarre manner??? Wow...I'm glad I'm not working on the coding for this title. It really speaks to the need for a serious overhaul of the UI and component "security" system. No component should be able to break other unrelated components. Crash, yes. Not load, yes. But not stuff like this.

Thanks for your quick responses, though and attenpt to help. Appreciate it. It might not have been so easy to resolve. I knew all along something had to have changed--I just had no conception that a track could cause an issue like this, so posted first in case it was a known problem.
Can you email me with details on it? timw@imagespaceinc.com

There's a few issues that aren't supposed to be done, which can TRIGGER other faults. Largely we've fixed those as encountered. This one has only (to my eyes) been found by you.

No, I have tire sounds with other cars, both ISI and 3rd party. I tried turning tire sounds up to 200%, but no difference.
When and how did you last install the core? Could you have accidentally deleted some sounds in the mod manager?

The way to fix really would be to download lite, install over the top of where you have rf2. But what caused it is probably an accidental uninstall.

Did that, fixed it (see above). Thanks!

I've driven the cars yesterday and tonight all night long. 95% in rain. Kinda can't stop. Getting a serious issue lol.

Thx ISI for this great set of cars!

PS:

Don't want to be annoying but any progress on weather effects and weather GFX would be awesome.
I mean, it's nice as it is now but we know there is more to come. I just hope that is soon.

I just can't imagine when all the rain stuff is properly implemented how crazy this is going to be.

How many are there now? What are they? How many do you need? My working list (subject to change):

Well I should clarify and say. Official, Period tracks suitable for running them on. I mean like a mid 60's Daytona and Le Mans. I'll take User made tracks too as long as they are period.

Yeah for 1967 in the same quality as ISI we only have Longford so far. A 1967 Nordschleife or Österreichring would be spectacular.

There seems to be Howston which added a high mount wing to the header of the page of rFactor2.
Is this added in the future? :)

Just did a five lap race with this car at Nordschleife and had an out of body experience on the first lap. Drove a perfect lap and set a 7:50, but couldn't do any better than 7:58 for the rest of the race.

I haven't had this feeling playing any other car if rf2, use to get it from time to time in rf1. I love this car!

That's a great feeling. First had that with GPL in 1999-2000 or so and been loving each time it happens since. You feel that you can do no wrong. :D Then you take a break for a week or something, come back, and can't drive at all. :D

Just trying to make a skin texture with an alternative to the Martini Livery. There is some "unpleasant" UV Mapping in the area behind the cockpit roof and the rear wheel arch. Also there is what appears to be a smoothing group problem at the rear of the rear arch where it starts to join the spoiler.

I tried these cars at Kyalami ( don't know if its an official conversion or not but anyway) from the 79 mod and have to say that these cars took me back in time to GPL as well. I used to love Kyalami with the GPL cars flat out through turn 3 was like heaven.
These cars give me that exact same feeling.
Great work ISI, history in the making.

I've spent the last couple of days pulling laps with the G4. Predominantly I drive the 60's F1 cars. I started getting better times when I stopped driving the G4 like an F1 car!!. A few things that stand out to me:-

Smooth is really important. I know that's true of all cars but these in particular seem to require it. That being said they also need a slightly firm hand.
There is a LOT of mass in comparison to the brakes performance so you really need to brake early, they are however pretty robust under braking so you can brake a lot "deeper" than you can in the F1's
Because of the mass and the primitive suspension system it seems more important to worry about your stability than your speed. You really need to get the pendulum under control into and out of the corners.

We really need more of the right kind of tracks for these cars.

you've descrbied that Pendulum effect perfectly, that's exactly what I feel I have to do going through fast sweeping corers and coming out of tight ones. All it's done so far is to produce a massive grin on my face when I successfully catch a massive slide when I'm millimetres from the grass :D
