How to shift in rfactor2?

I'm new to simrace and have only drived a real car in a Chinese driving school for several hours.
I'm wondering how to use the gearbox in rf2 properly? I found https://support.iracing.com/support...32-transmission-gearbox-shifting-types-method for iracing.
How should I clutch/lift/blip for different cars in rf2? Can I shift like a modern f1 driver on every cars and every online races?
Can I use similar techniques on other sims such as iracing and live for speed?
I'm currently using a logitech G29 with no H shifter.
Thanks a lot.

Hi, with rFactor2 you could, but don't need to use clutch, there is no gearbox sychronization simulation ATM. However some (often historical) cars might require some throttle blib to keep rear end in place while deceleration. With IRacing it's different, depending on car you have to clutch or synchronize revs somehow.

Shifting in rF2 is rather easy, especially with paddles. Assign one for upshifts and the other for downshifts. Then assign the N key on your keyboard to N. ONce you get comfortable with paddle shifting, come back and ask about the double pull neutral. You can shift up most modern cars like the F1 mods without lifting, same for MODERN cars when you down shift. Older cars, as TJones said, may require either slower shifting up or blipping the throttle when you shift down.

Every engine has different behaviour

No standardized Engine for sims
It is that simple ( shrugs )

If you drive manual in rF2 a lot. Try to keep using the clutch properly, even though in rF2 it is dead in all times except when you need to avoid stalling. If you start ignoring clutch the rF2 will give you bad habit of not using it, and it will transfer to other simulations and also real life.

So in rF2 you can basically almost never use clutch. But please do, for your own good and also for immersion.

I cannot tell you how many times I stabbed at a non-existant clutch pedal after finally caving and giving my left knee a break by going automatic(IRL) I would come up to stop lights and my left leg/foot would be fishing around for that clutch pedal.

Не могли бы вы пояснить, раз уж вы ответили на сообщение двухлетней давности? Вы не знаете, как работает rF2, или не согласны?
Of course I disagree! The rFactor2 has a clutch and it works great and the synchronization is fine.

As you could know, clutch is not fondamental on historic racing cars (from 60s….)
Silvio Moser’s mechanic confirm me that

an example in this video:

“The car driven is a 1982 ex-Riccardo Patrese Brabham BT49D. The clutch failed on the outlap—surprisingly, the Brabham still performed well without it. I just had to be cautious with the unsettling downshifts due to no heel-toe.”

I also remember reading somewhere or listening to Graham Hill talking about how he was using clutch. Saying that he doesn't remember if he has ever depressed clutch completely during races. But I don't think these are arguments about clutch being irrelevant. Obviously there are plenty of nuances there, and likely it is specific to every car. Clutches are there for a reason.

edit:

googled and found this old thread, discussing realism of clutch usage, mainly in vintage classic racecars: https://forum.studio-397.com/index....tching-in-historic-racecars-discussion.40738/
