yes, it is. In the main menu it can be set somewhere in the 'options' I believe, but it can also be done on track (not garage, really when driving). Default keys are 4, 5, 6 (all three keys switch on/off different parts of the hud).
The LCD HUD at the bottom right of the screen is important as you can adjust pit strategy on the fly. So I would make sure you have the on/off key for it memorised.
Yeah i have 2 buttons mapped on my wheel for position and damage HUD. Press once and it comes up, press again and it goes away (no HUD). But i use minimal wegde HUD mod as well. Much smaller and non intrusive HUD with good info.
