    Hello artists,

is there an easy way to get my face in the game? How? Search didn't give me any results on this.
I don't even know where to find the right texture in the file system of rF2.
Is a simple photo of my face good enough or do I need to change stuff? In Photoshop?

Please help if you can.

No, there is no easy way. :)

The problem will be, that you will have to do it with almost every single car.
The face of the driver is normally included in the same texture as the suit is (if noone changed the mapping for his own driver).
And the default textures are in the ..\core\vehicles\cmaps.mas file packaged.
But as said before, if the car-modder uses an own texture, it is included in the mas files of the car then.
And to drive online, you will always have to install the original version again, does it worth that?

Is this the same for custom helmets?

    Thanks redapg!

ISI should do something to make it easier. Maybe then somebody can make a plugin that lets you customize your suit and stuff and maybe even upload your face from within the game. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would like to customize the appearance of their alter ego.

If the driver was a global thing... so you have the same overalls and helmet in whatever car you drive.

    Yessssnoooo. :)
Such things always depend on how the modder has created his work.
rF1/2 have a lot of "wc"-materials which can be used to add customized textures "easily" (it was much easier in rF1).
E.g. the wccarbody material, which everyone "knows", because that allows to give every car of a mod it's own skin.
But since rF2 has the comp system, it's much harder to customize things.
You almost always have to repackage things when you e.g. want to add a skinpack.

I fear that to add this option in a usable way is almost impossible from many reasons.

A WCFACE material should work with custom skins loaded from the settings folder though...but I think ISI hasn't used this option for the driver head (maybe only WCHELMET but the face is not on the texture I guess!?)
Anyhow someone could do a custom update of the respective mod to enable this feature because I don't think ISI will do anything about this in the near future :)

As said before, the divers face is included in the driver textures in the cmaps.mas, so wcdriver should do it, if the modder has set this material for the driver.

I think it's random what head you get.

    Here's a line from the bt20.gen file:

    MeshFile=bt20_dhead<12>.gmt

And some info from the gen file:
I don't really understand the <ID> thing, but there 6 heads in the maps.mas that can be used. So for the BT20, I would say you can't change the drivers face without modding the car and making your own component.

The <ID> is used for the Genstring= entries in the *veh file. So there is no randomness here :)
In this case with the BT20 there seem to be 6 driver-faces with own gmt files, where the definition which one is used for a car, is set in the *.veh files Genstring= entries.
In this case there is no wcXXX material set for the drivers faces i would say.

And for this car-comp you would have to change/repackage the mod, if you want to have your own face for a driver, yes.

In case of the BT20 the WC option for the material really wasn't taken. So no chance to put in your face without changing the material naming ;)
Because of this I had a look at the cobra driver's head too and found that ISI used the WCHELMET and WCDRIVER material name - but not with the heads 01 to 04 which are chosen by the genstrings. So even here you would have no chance to easily add your face to the game :(

I would like to try something.
Could one or better two of you, post the content of the file "ISI_Brabham_BT20_1966.mft" here, the file can be found in the folder:
    ..\Installed\Vehicles\ISI_Brabham_BT20_1966\1.60

I would need it for a comparison.

Thank you Coutie, that helped me.
I am looking for an "easy" way to add skinpacks or car-packs for league-use to an existing mod, where you can choose the added cars directly from the menu.
But i only have a "halfebaked" solution so far.
