Hi, ive been working on a few liveries but am not sure how to make a decent silver (think mercedes f1 up till this year) or a metallic blue like Alpine.
Previously I've worked in iRacing where you can set the material to metallic and then just alter the roughness to give anything from chrome downward.

In rFactor I can set the material to chrome but cant reduce the shininess, hence cant make a silver colour, or if I use white in the region map I can have the option of metallic flake, however I haven't had much success with either.
Is there another way or do I just stick with a appropriate shade of grey and maybe have some metallic flake ?

    thanks for any help

Change "metallicPaintStrength" of black region to 0.5~1.0 upload_2021-12-3_23-47-6.png

I know I said to use the black region map, but here is an example of using the blue.
Metal flakes wont work on blue but the satin look can be made anyway.

    awesome, thanks again
I've just been using the web interface, which is why I thought the white channel had the flake effect as it comes under the white channel, though I couldn't get it to have any effect, obviously.
looks like you can get much more effects manually adjusting the jsons
    Thank you

The skin is more than a year old, so I loaded it up the other day to check it in latest version of rf2. now the
"lacquerColour" is too dark. And properly more variables that could be finetuned. But it was only to show and make a point that it can be done by editing the json.
