These stats sound about right to me. I know when I was running a league our average age seemed to be about 45. We had a a few guys that raced in their younger days and were looking for a way to continue even in their 60s and 70s. I personally started sim racing after I got into autox in real life. I was looking for a way to practice between events and went on a hunt for something more realistic than GT1 on the PS1. I found GTL and became hooked on simracing. When GTL got FFB I picked up an Act Labs Force RS.
Too old for becoming a pro race driver and too young to die.
I'm ok with being in the 1%
Im 29 and grew up with Stunts and Lotus challange on the old amiga 500 hahah
I Heard It Through The Grapevine was #1 + 17
I'm 51. First "sim" was Revs on the c64 . First racing game was Turbo on the colecovision with steering wheel etc etc. yeah, that old!
I am also 29....I remember Lotus Challenge....all fancy graphics and poor physics. Upgraded to Amiga 1200 for Knights of the Sky and Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix.
Sound is just starting to show its age on Lotus Challenge, but it does take me back to exciting times (I mean it)!
You had to bring up the game called stunts. There are no words for how fun that would be to be able to make a track out of pre-fabs (in minutes instead of weeks)like in stunts and drive all these great vehicles. I cannot be the only one who would love a stunt track with loops and other nonsense. Hard Drivin' and Race Drivin' were 2 more that had those crazy tracks. The colors are horrible by today's standards. Texturing was non existent then. If those 2 things were made to look like (insert good looking RF2 track here) it would be hilarious. Who's got a test loop for me to drive? I'm 38
Stunt Car Racer ?
Stunt car racer was my favorite game when i had an Amiga. That was a lot of fun.
Pc games . Space age stuff.. Billy carts now that was state of the art..
26, grew up with this first
And then I got this in 93
Played with Joystick, push forward for throttle, left/right for turning and pull for braking I Was brilliant at Monaco! Today I don't particularly like Monaco
im only 18 i feel like pretty much everyone is older then me here lol
Dream of what sims will be like when your our age and most of us are dead and buried.
I forgot all about this thread. This is the game I mentioned in my previous post. Actual driving doesn't start right away.
This one is similar but harder.
@ Durge.. One day a sim will be so real that the only thing missing is death, pain and repair costs.
Edit: added pictures of the original arcade versions. Those had force feedback but nothing close to what we have now.
