No, rig is not a simulator. Rig itself doesn't simulate anything, it is item that increase experience of simulation software, which is in fact the true simulator. Except if it is PC2 or Raceroom or Gran Turismo Sport or whatever other mass market bs that tries to obtain the prestige of true simulation and dumbs out everyone into thinking that that simulate, also I am now going to get called out an elitist and gate keeper, and end of rant

Not trying to go too far off topic but I believe you are combining two different terms, simulator and simulation. As defined in multiple resources, a simulator can include both hardware and software (a machine with a similar set of controls designed to provide a realistic imitation of the operation of a vehicle, aircraft, or other complex system, used for training purposes.). A good amount of users try to simulate (imitate the appearance or character of) a vehicle by purchasing steering wheels (ffb), seats, motion devices etc in order to capture the same experience. Not all are necessarily great pieces of hardware but it's an effort to simulate the experience.

I was just being lazy. Simulator cockpit designer. And yes, it is simulating a cockpit. Not just a rig to mount everything to. It looks different and more importantly, feels different. Hopefully more realistic. But that's the goal.

 

I'm glad you didn't - I stopped counting at 5000.01 - knowing the actual total would adversely affect my state of denial.

This seat is so ugly right now that it needs a sheepskin!

I saw those, but am too cheap to go down that route. I know $4k Euros doesn't sound cheap, but things add up fast when it comes to a cockpit... those darn graphic cards and triple screens and a decent wheel/shifter/pedal are budget killers.
