I found posts where people say to put it in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\[track]\setupfile.svm

    So I put one here:
    D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\Vlm_Midohio_Nochicane\setup.svm

And its not in the folder in-game.

What am I missing? (apart from a manual)

To answer my own question, it seems its likely due to compatibilty.

I downloaded 4 setups and two of them appear in-game.

Perhaps the other 2 are for a slightly different/modded car.

On the garage page where you choose the setup, on the bottom left, it says either All or Vehicle. Click to alternate and see if it shows.

If you open the svm File with a Text-Editor, the first Lines show the Vehicle for/with that the Setups was made.
So you can check if you already have installed it.
It don't makes sense to e.g. use a Clio Setup with a LMP1 Car. ;)
