So many of the cars-mods-tracks are installed by so many different ways. How about a simple template for installation so all the addon's are installed the same the same way all the time. That would make life a little simpler. Just point to the rFactor folder you want to use and install. If you could make a list of different installs on your machine in the installer this would be nice. buzard
JoneSoft Generic Mod Installer. I have used it for over a dozen games including rFactor. It will install mods, and uninstall them cleanly for every game on the market. You can install as many mods as you like, even ones that overwrite original files without ever actually harming your install. http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html
From the Q&A: Doug: Any thought to including a built-in mods, tracks, and car set loader/unloader? With so many different add-ons, it can make the installation huge. ISI / Gjon: Yes we are working on that and hope to have that as part of rFactor2.
JoneSoft Generic Mod Installer looks neat but it deals with the second step - once the compressed file has been uncompressed somewhere. That step is easy enough when you've done it a few times but puts off newcomers and the non-savvy, and every mod is slightly different. What rFactor has always needed is an equivalent of the GPL installer - simply download the file and run it. And anyway, surely a mod-based game like rF should handle this properly.
for me it would be enough to have a labeling sytem such that there is no mess about the versions of mods/traks
