I'm currently fixing some problems with interior objects in some GMT files. To do this I've been importing the GMT files into 3DSimED, then exporting the 3DS files to 3DS Max and fixing the problem in 3DS Max. When I run 3DS Max's Overlapping Vertices tool with a tolerance of 0.001 meter on these files it calculates that about 40% of vertices are overlapping. All of the files are high LOD files. This seems very high. Is it normal to have so many overlapping vertices?
Yes, there is only one smoothing group, so you need to detach each smoothing group(from max) to get proper smoothing in game.
