I apologize, the sounds have not happened as quickly as expected, but the good news is I've gotten some samples from my Z owner in Texas and they sound great. He's been very busy [real world stuff] but promises more sound samples very soon.

On another note - I've finally managed to tweak the chassis and get rid of the god awful snap spin the 240 was prone to. Feels MUCH more natural [and realistic IMHO]. You can still get the rear to swap ends if you push too hard. Also bumped the curb weight back up to realistic numbers.

Lastly, in an effort to help fine tune the car for match racing, I've made two optional engine upgrades:
The base install is the factory stock L24 - Dual SU Carbs and 151 HP
The first upgrade option is a mildly tuned, Dual SU 2.6L engine putting out 180 HP
Lastly is a triple Weber tuned 2.8L putting out a fun 225 HP

With this last configuration [2.8L] I've been practicing all morning against a BMW Z4, the original Hakosuka and the recently released Mazda Miata SCL1 [v1.32 supercharged Miata] and having an absolute riot! :D

Did anyone else notice the headlights not working on the 240Z?
I tweaked them a little as well, got them working and bumped up their brightness a little as well, making nighttime driving now possible.

A little worried that Benjamin may have gone AWOL. Getting closer on things but really would prefer to hand them over to him for final approval as this really is his creation...
Ben, are you still out there Mate?

You need to install them through the mod manager, sound tab.

Ran a few offline races with these at Essington. Pretty nice afternoon. Sure would like the sound adjustment were waiting for. After about 30 laps or so, the sound sorta gets to you, but the drive makes up for it.

Jim, unfortunately it seems as though the Datsun Z owner who had volunteered to supply raw sound clips to work with has bailed on me. :(
It also looks as though Benjamin has gone AWOL too, I was all set to hand over all of the changes/upgrades I'd made to him - it's his mod after all.
But it's been months now and I don't think my sound guy is coming back, Ben either. I did get a few authentic sounds, the idle loop and a few more. And what I do have sounds VERY close to accurate - much better than the Corvette sounds to be sure. The handling is much better as well [IMHO] along with a few engine and transmission variations/options.

So now I'm torn between wanting to share it with the masses, since it's technically not mine and some of the sounds are borrowed...

It's very simple. Give proper credit to any contributors and release. We appreciate your efforts to pull it all together. Repeat process if newer, better, improved bits come in the future.

The lad who made the mod said in the first post of this thread, "feel free to play around with the physics". Seems to me like he won't mind any improvements being made to his mod as long as he still gets his due credit for doing it.

    Datsun 240Z version 1.80

    https://mega.co.nz/#!J5MTnSpb!xhvzThIxuDL3BZG7JCPso2SK47e_hprdJzo_MiR82mQ

    Datsun 240Z / Nissan Fairlady Z [Version 1.80]
Original Design and model: Benjamin Exell
    Handling modifications: Ricklandia
Engine and Transmission modifications and options: Ricklandia
**Base engine sounds borrowed from the rFactor1 HistorX mod / Jaguar 3.0L inline 6**
Additional engine and other sounds: Ricklandia and ISI

    Modifications and Additional materials include:
3 Engines to select from -
    factory stock 2400cc L24 - Dual SU Carbs - 151 HP
mildly tuned 2600cc L26 - Dual SU Carbs- 180 HP
    race prepped 2800cc L28 - Triple Weber Carbs - 225 HP

    2 Transmissions
    4-Speed Manual [USA only]
    5-Speed Manual

    Chassis -
Weight and balances set to factory specs - handling dramatically improved. You should find the car very capable and stable at slow through moderate to high speeds. Push too hard and you will find the rear end wanting to swap ends on you - just like the real world 240Z is prone to do!
    Other -
Fixed headlights and a few other minor details along the journey too.

Many thanks to Ben Exell for bringing us this 240Z mod, hope we hear back from you soon.
And many thanks to the modders at HistorX for 'allowing' me to temporarily borrow the base engine sounds from your wonderful rFactor1 mod. Without them, this 240Z would just not be the same. In return, when I finally get the 240Z sounds worked I promise to share them freely!

With the [2.8L] engine and 5-Speed transmission, I've found the BMW Z4, the original Hakosuka and the recently released Mazda Miata SCL1 [v1.32 supercharged Miata] to provide excellent racing companions. Enjoy!!

Nice work. Could you ask the historx modders if you could borrow the whole mod ( temporary of course ) ;-)
Some really good stuff coming soon.
    Seat Leon
    Vw Beetle
    Caterham 7
    Enduracers
And lots more I forget off the top of my head.
    Great times ahead.

Excellent drive this update is, very nice (and I've only driven the factory stock.) Spent a lot of time on Thruxton and the car is a pleasure to drive.
The original ( without the Ricklandia update) had me favoring the Hakosuka over the 240Z, but now... what's a Hakosuka??

    Awesome update!

Can you (or someone else) fix the mirrors? They're washed out, almost white.
