Dear all, Could someone help me to get rfactor 2 running without the need to enable Vsync please. I have gsync enabled and it is showing as enabled in game but the frames are still going over 144 FPS. Only solution and best results so far is to enable video vsync ingame. Many thanks Greame
After reviewing many forums on the subject, the best way to configure gsync is with vertical sync enabled and the frame limiter set to around 116 in the NVIDIA driver, not in the game. Also, with ULL enabled. In my opinion, this is the best result I get, although I have somewhat outdated hardware it's optimized in a sickly way ;-) a 3770k 4.2GHz + GTX 1080 + 16GB RAM+Acer Predator 34p. However, I can play very smoothly with a medium-high setting by disabling a few things. At least for rfactor2; other games will surely need different settings. Regards. Edit: This is in Full Screen mode.
Try putting Vsyn on in Nvidia control panel either Global or App level and that will limit your FPS to your monitor settings. Don't need to bother with limiting FPS by doing it this way.
For mine you want to leave NVCP as your preferred max fps, you can adjust individual game fps with Nvidia Inspector. Limit rF2 ( and LMU ) in json file "Max Framerate":144, "Max Framerate#":"0 to disable (note: positive numbers only, we always use the 'alternate' method now)", Only set this to 144 if you don't drop frames. For instance if you see drops to 100 fps then try setting it to 120 fps I set 144 G-Sync and 144 Json in rF2 ( get 200 normal ) In LMU I set 144 G-Sync and 120 Json ( get 160 normal ) That allows me do full field races any conditions any combos, no frame drops. That leaves lots of headroom, if you push GPU to limit of course they will drop more frames. Smoother framerate better latency better driving. Without knowing your specs or average framerate I guessing. 7800X3D ( No PBO / SMT ) - B650 - 64GB 6000 - RTX4080S ( Stock) - 3440x1440 DP@144Hz Borderless Nvidia G-Sync settings are untouched. I also use extend mode with Samsung Neo QLED 4K HDMI @144Hz Fullscreen Still stays solid 100 (ACE) 120 (LMU) or rF2 (144) on Rig while watching media, encoding burning, downloading on 4K
I follow this exactly to the letter, it's perfect in every way and it takes everything into account. Simple to implement. Limit the FPS preferably directly in the user data.json file exactly as he specifies (141 for 144). If you follow everything he says exactly to the letter, you will have the best result you can get, taking everything into consideration. The YouTuber is French, French language. Just for a laugh installed LMU on my 2nd everyday tower. 8600G - 32GB - RTX3050 6GB at 1080p@144Hz Borderless Sync. With Json set @60fps it maintained it everywhere apart from Lemans. (drops in screens are from bandicam ) Lemans I dropped visible cars to 10 and after 2 laps it hit 60fps as well. Did not look bad either.
