Hello sim racers, A new hotfix update for the GT3 cars within rFactor 2 has been deployed: Aston Martin Vantage GT3 v3.53 Bentley Continental GT3 2020 v3.53 BMW M4 GT3 v3.53 BMW M6 GT3 v3.53 Callaway C7 GT3 v3.53 Ferrari 488 GT3 v3.53 McLaren 650S GT3 v3.53 McLaren 720 GT3 v3.53 Mercedes AMG GT3 v3.53 Changed maximum throttle amount on downshifts Porsche 991 GT3R v3.53 Radical RXC GT3 v3.53 Fixed wet tire CTD Changed maximum throttle amount on downshifts Audi R8 GT3 2018 v3.53 Audi R8 GT3 2019 v3.53 Changed maximum throttle amount on downshifts Fixed brake lights not showing through windshields Bentley Continental GT3 2017 v3.53 Fixed showroom loading issue Changed maximum throttle amount on downshifts Enjoy!
I struggled with the Porche 992 and its shift protection.....just don't drive it anymore. I'm here on rF2 to enjoy myself, not get frustrated. [That's my wifes job]. Just drove a GT3 and I think I may of been lucky to grab 3.53 just as I fired up my sim, have not checked yet, but after reading the response the update received I was not really game to try them out and have to park them next to the Porche in my collectors shed. Very impressed with the tires and the way it feels now. Sound is not quite right on my end in the Aston, that could be my settings. Beautiful work boys.
So out of curiosity, what was the reason for the change with throttle application on downshift? Was it unrealistic in the first iteration or it was caused by people complaining?
Update is progressing very slowly. I only have the Radical & Porsche at v3.53. [edit] Reloaded rF2 and used the manage content to unsubscribe from the BMW M4 GT3. Then re-installed the car and the logjam was broken. All the cars are now updated to v3.53
Something definitely awry with the Content update process. Taking the Aston Martin GT3, I now have 4 versions: old 1.86, 3.50, 3.52 and 3.53, according to the content manager. I have used ModMgr to check for additional mods (vmods) like old CS series that might reference the really old versions, and found none. Plus, if the current update was supposed to work right, and there's no way I added any skins or other mods from the first "new" version to the latest "new" one, it should have deleted 3.50 and 3.51, but only deleted the latter. BTW, I also have a very old version of Spa, which now shows up as Local content despite the fact it is DLC.
check for skin .mas files in the old folders. Move them to the v3.53 folder. Not sure why 3.50 remained once the 3.51 was removed.
+1 , i would actually like to know this too. will be a bad thing if it was changed just because people complained about it, i hope their motto is to create whats realistic. I was having no isssues prior to this hotfix.
The shift protection remains realistic, it is simply a case of we've now built in more tolerance to the system to allow for further hardware variables of the users. Driving wise, you will find it very similar indeed to what was before the update.
Porsche GT3 gear sound periodic "spring sound" and its not when it hit gear protection. Its the same sound which normally is present when going in reverse.
@Paul Jeffrey - whilst the hotfixes are being pushed, please ask for the descriptions of the Porsche engine in the GT3 (and GTE) be changed from the currently listed V6 to B6 to match reality. Not a massive issue but it looks rather daft for a sim to have such an oversight. Cheers.
I can tell you what seems to be happening. In the base folder of older versions e.g. 3.50, it retains car.mas and the xxx.mft file. (There are no other .mas files in those folders, I never get skins from the workshop because they always break when new versions of cars are released). However, in the upgrades folder e.g. 3.51, it has car-upgrade.mas but it no longer has the corresponding xxx.mft file, where the most recent version e.g. 3.53, does have one. I think some of the issue is a bug in the Content Manager than continues to show all versions that have a .mft file in the base folder (which is all of them), but lacks the upgrade folder reference. For my preference, it could leave the folder but ought to delete both the car.mas and car-upgrade.mas and .mft files in older folders. In the Session UI that you use to pick a car, it only lists the most recent car version i.e. 3.53.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles In every gt3 car folder should be a 3.52 and a 3.53 folder. anything "less numbered" can be deleted. Example: in porsche folder 3.52 - car.mas - Porsche_911_GT3_R_2018.mft in folder 3.53 - car-upgrade.mas - Porsche_911_GT3_R_2018.mft
Hey, tested the update yesterday with some friends. They told me that they have now in the setup a new Strategy Tab! For me this is not showing! Next problem i thing i have is that i can´t go into the Photo mode. I can´t map a button for it because its not there :-(. cheers
Are you using the RC? The RC changes haven't landed in the public release yet. The GT3 update is a content update only.
@Coutie @Alex Sawczuk @Paul Jeffrey @Lazza I was testing every car today (v3.53), starting with the 488, then 720s and 911, usually car specific FFB in 55% gives me the most detailed FFB output without clipping in s397 GT3s, so my experience was very good in the 2 first cars, no clipping on high speed corners, feeling the minimal details as usual, and the new ABS feedback very subtle and useful... I set all the cars ABS in level 7, all of them I see the gold leds getting full filled during braking. But when I reach the 911, with the same FFB configuration, everything went fine until the first hard braking zone, the ABS feedback is an INSANE rattle that makes the car undriveable... I'm putting the MoTeC FFB log images here... 488 720s 911 No wheel locking on the 911 Another details that needs attention: - Differential, as far as I know the spec says that all GT3s have diff preload adjustable, but both BMW's and the 911 are the only ones that doesn't have it. - AMG stills having the caster broken.
