I get a grainy feel when moving the wheel on some cars and some tracks. Is there anyway of dialling this out of my Fanatec podium DD1 or do I just bite the bullet and get a Simucube?

Get a simucube 2, there is nothing better, until Simucube 3, and it's not there before at least 5 years.

Restarting rF2 might help. This has been an issue for ages, and only, afaik, only affects Fanatec gear.

Did you mean resetting the FFB?

No, that doesn't work for many users. The graininess usually occurs when you have entered the pits several times. For example you may have been working on a setup and tried various changes. The repeated trips back and forth from the pits seem to be one of the triggers for the loss of detail. The other is changing sessions, like from Practice to Qualifying.
You can try the Reset FFB but if that doesn't work, then a complete exit and shutdown/restart of rF2 may be the only solution.(not an ideal solution though)

    Try this.

Edit: another possible solution is to set

    "Steering resistance coefficient":0
    "Steering resistance saturation":0

in your controller.json, then re-load the profile once in game.

and now its back!!! how frustrating. Sometimes though whilst on track if i select DPR to on say 10 lowest setting the nasty graining goes. It does come back again later on so a possible temporary fix.
Anyone else have this issue?? I`m considering going to Simucube for a wheel and base as it does seem to be only on fanatec wheels. I cant change to another sim as the others just don't hit the mark.

Try to set all saturation values within controller.json to 0 while rF2 is closed.
I had this grainy ffb problem which appears when going back to pits with ESC and than back to track and its getting worser each time you rejoin the track within the same session. After setting those values this problem never comes back.

Fixed the problem atleast for me and some others with DD1 or CSL DD wheelbases.
