Hi team and community,

Since the v1.2 update, I am experiencing full system GPU driver crashes when exiting Le Mans Ultimate in VR. These are NOT normal CTDs — they trigger a Bugcheck 0x3B (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) and force a reboot.

Crash Summary
From WinDbg + CrashDumpAnalyzer:

  • Bugcheck: 0x3B — SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
  • Faulting module: ntoskrnl.exe or nvlddmkm.sys
  • Cause: Exception during transition between user-mode VR code and privileged driver routines
  • Diagnosis: “Likely caused by a bug in the graphics driver”

This only happens when quitting LMU in VR.

No other VR titles on my system (ACC, AMS2, MSFS, AC, DR2.0) cause this behavior.

VR Setup
  • Pimax Crystal
  • Pimax xr or SteamVR set as OpenXR runtime
  • OpenComposite on or OFF
  • RTX 5080
  • Latest NVIDIA drivers (also tested rollbacks)
  • Windows 11
  • All other VR titles run normally

What Happens

  1. LMU runs normally in VR
  2. On exiting the game or session:
    • Pimax or SteamVR attempts to unload
    • GPU driver crashes instantly
    • System forces a reboot (Kernel crash → BSOD

Correlation With Latest Pat

This behavior started immediately after v1.2 was released, which introduced kernel-level EAC updates and VR-related changes.

There is a known issue with open XR and the Easy Anti-Cheat system. Essentially, as I understand it, EAC is crashing your system due to something in the open XR app that triggers EAC.
There are also issues with some brands of wheels that lose FFB. (most notably Logitech & Thrustmaster and some Fanatec)
All release notes are now displayed on the news screens of the LMU website, the 'Known Issues' page can be found under the heading of Additional tools and Troubleshooting.
