Yes this would be very interesting, and also to have some leaderboards were you can load ghosts from other players.
I'm definitely supporting this idea! Very good to improve yourself and avoid constant look on dashboard!
Please dont put this feature, so arcade, makes it easier to beat your laptimes, cant do this in real life either, learn how to judge where you are loosing and gaining laptime by how you drive, comparing your sector times, how you took a corner or braked differently when you had a better sector, etc. If you want to go into more detail, then use telemetry and analyse and compare your laps that way, like they do in real life. Racing against a ghost car is complete "casual child video game stuff" these are supposed to be simulators. I cant picture any of the true top sims (netkar pro, iracing, assetto corsa) having ghost cars, so please rFactor 2 dont have them either.
It's up to you not to activate the option during a singleplayer session! Personnaly I always use telemetry but this could act as a boost method if you don't improve your time in a particular sector!
Heads up? This is not real life. There are already assists in this video game that do exist in real life (for that is what it is, a video game). You are free not to use them. All it does is represent telemetry in a graphical way, and there for makes it easier to see where you gain or lose time quickly and efficiently.
Heads up, theres a reason why the hardcore sims aka Netkar Pro, iRacing, rFactor 1, Game Stock Car dont use them. Its for kids
im sure Tim said its coming http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/1526-Ghost-cars-in-RF2?p=23611#post23611
The only reason this hasn't been used in real-life racing is because they can't or it's too expensive. Otherwise I'm sure that every single team would, because of its usefulness. [EDIT: By this I mean having ghost cars while driving in the actual car. Obviously, it's quite possible with a simulator...and who knows if they do or don't have them set up for it as-is. But I do get your point--that it's possible for them to become a sort of a crutch...as soon as you take it away again, you're left up to your own devices. Although, IMO, it's not really any different than putting cones on the track for braking, turn-in, apex, and track-out (or more appropriately, a lead-follow session). But instead of being a static training tool (as the cones are), it's dynamic--one can see how another person handles the transient properties of the vehicle, and you don't have to worry about colliding with them.] Well now, that's quite an immature/insecure attitude...unfortunate.
Ah is that the reason...sorry at 55 I am obviously too young to be playing this game, and iRacing, and rF1, I will uninstall them immediately and go to my bedroom and sulk.
