    Hi everyone,
I'm the least tech minded person in the entire world but have stumbled across the 1970s F1 versions of rFactor 2 which look absolutely incredible. Please could someone point me in the right direction to purchase, download and install particularly the 1973-1979 Formula 1 car/track bundles? I really have no idea where to start! Many thanks in advance! Simon

What point are you starting from? Do you already have rFactor 2 installed?

Hi Benborp, thanks very much for replying. I haven't installed it yet. Is there a fairly easy path to adding the 1970s F1 car and track bundles once installed? Also, do you think 4GB RAM and Core i5 will be enough to run it on my laptop? I don't know much about this stuff! Thanks :)

    Simon,
Once you have installed rFactor 2 via Steam it should be fairly simple to subscribe to the the cars and tracks that you are interested in. There are several 70's F1 cars available:

This is ChiefWiggum's wide ranging and evolving mod that ranges from late sixties through to late seventies with the option of customisation and building your own creations: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2230024732

These are the Studio 397 created cars, the Brabham BT44, March 761 and McLaren M23:

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1515642353

And this is a 1979 ground effect mod:

    This is all free content.

One advantage of all of these mods is that they are not as resource intensive as some of the more modern paid content. You should have a better chance of a decent experience with a lower performance machine. The current minimum graphics requirements are nVidea GTS 450/AMD Radeon 5750.

There are many tracks from the era available, and again this type of content tends to perform well on lower end systems - though the quality can be variable. I'll dig up some links.

rFactor 2 is an adaptable platform - but it can take some time and advice to get the best out of it. Historics is probably one of the better places to start in terms of avoiding frustration - start with one of the Studio 397 cars on the default tracks and then go from there.

Running on a laptop could be problematic.

There's a free demo, just click on "Download Demo" in the steam store. Running on your laptop might be troublesome.
