Okay, so I am getting more and more frustrated with this game. Got things working reasonably well with the gfx settings etc. only to fire it up this morning for some practice for a race tomorrow. Game launches, then shuts down, and appears to be downloading something in steam. Endless loop. Reverting back to the old UI, it loads okay, but also decides to subscribe me a load of workshop items i do not want. Why cant S397 sort this peice of **** out But I guess as always, its down to my system, nothing to with the game
Did you try to remove your plr.json file and let the game build a new one? That has worked for quite a few others recently when this issue is present (game not loading, just 'hanging' when you try to start it...going back to desktop)
Yes, thanks...that did the trick Never had so many problems as of late with this and gets extremely frustrating.
I do have it yes. I don't recall uninstalling anything. I was on it last night came back on again today and it shut down. I had made a couple of manual changes to it the day before, pit details and rear mirror clip view or whatever it's called.
So, just taking a guess, you likely broke the JSON formatting. (something I think the game should automatically recover from, because it should backup the JSON files on each successful start and restore them if a broken JSON is found - @Alex Sawczuk maybe you can pass that on, it would avoid many of these startup errors...)
I don't see how that can be the case since I had used it fine for at least a day since making the changes with no problems. And I don't leave the game running in the background if I'm not using it
No, fair enough. Was only a guess. Unfortunately broken JSONs have been crashing the game for 2-3 years, and the relatively simple workaround has never been implemented, so I do tend to jump on it as a likely cause.
Yes, I understand what you mean. I was going to do a file compare between the newly generated one and mine, but couldn't be bothered as it's working now and I easily restored my controller settings etc.

No, it's not installed, but I've not removed it from the package folder yet. I remade that mod on the server and gave it a new name.... Not sure if that ties in with the timeline of the problem, but it could be I guess
