I dont know what their future plans are , i just play the Game and enjoy the sim that arguably has the best physics and FFB combo out there I have just finished a 2hr VR session at Nordschleife and what a blast it was Obviously if MSG got bust and RF2 servers die,i hope to still be able to play my Game content as it is
I´m in accord with almost everyone, in respect to RF2, about the good and the bad, like the rolling resistance or the feel of the cars been to light when they jump or in an accident. But RF2 is the only one that make me feel that i´m driving a real car, what i feel is what makes me always drive in RF2. Even if, in every session that i do, it makes me smile and cry!!! Note: Just the feel of the acceleration that the RUF Yellow give´s me in VR, is amazing!! It´s my favourite car, i think. Also the Evo TA, the sound´s the way it shakes my cockpit, ya... RF2, will be my driving sim, until something better happens...but when, and by who ?! Maybe ISI return´s...
At least right now ISI is just a paper company, so I don't think they will be able to create a new ISIMotor unless they do the same thing they did when they licensed the rFactor2 prototype to an outside company. We can only hope that the technology introduced in LMU will be reflected in rF2, even if only gradually.
Wrong, Reiza didn't use rF2 engine because S397 was working on it and didn't want two companies battling each other, which is understandable... IMO yes, Reiza was the only company that could commit 100% with rF2 development and put it where it belongs.
That is not the reason at all @Rui Santos and I think I can tell there were extensive discussions about licensing the rF2 engine as well as various other options. I won't go into details but we all know in the end no agreement was reached and Reiza then chose to build AMS2 on the Madness Engine.
I can understand there were other reasons, probably licensing issues, but for sure at the time S397 woudn't want competition with the same engine, which, like i said, is understandable.
I can only tell you that is not true or there would not even have been discussions. S397 successfully licensed the engine 's few times while I was around.
Hi! I was racing few months ago when all of the new online system was blooming and looking good, but I stopped to play rf2 because of lack of time. I reinstalled the game yesterday but there were barely any people racing on official servers (0 people in practice, just 1 or 2 registered for the next session, etc). Is rFactor 2 dead (again)? Is it because Le Mans Ultimate? I don't mind playing offline by myself, but I had lot of fun online the last time and was looking good and if rF2 is being abandoned it looks pointless spending any money on official DLCs...
in May there was less people playing Le Mans Ultimate than rfactor2. Most Played Racing Games On Steam In May 2024 | OverTake (Formerly RaceDepartment)
Sims used , licenced, all or part of ISIMotor. SCGT F1 2000 F1 2001 F1 CHALLENGE '99-'02 GTL GTR GTR 2 RACE '07 SimRaceway ARCA Project Cars rFactor AMS rFactor 2 Lemans Ultimate NASCAR Thunder ( 2 ) NASCAR 21 Ignition ( thanks Marcel) The Grand Tour Game ( thanks Marcel) Yeah my point being how on earth as a community we kill off ISIMotor3.0 ? More so with all this why did they need to make rFactor to begin with. Must not pay well.
Logged In to rF2 yesterday. According to Steam there were double the people playing rF2 then LMU. Which Is not to encouraging for LMU, but I am sure numbers will rise when the new update Is released on the 10th. of this month. I usually see people online In rF2, but yesterday I got a track content error... Missing Lime Rock Park 2021. So I could not participate In that online session. It was on rotation for the beginners class races, and I do have Lime Rock Park v2012 Installed. Looked for the missing track on the workshop but nothing. @Allwin20200 win, It depends on you´re time zone and when you logged In. I usually see more EU players then US players when I log In, and that´s because I live In the EU zone so It´s to be expected, but I think there´s more activity going on right now from EU based players but don´t take my word for It. I hope, and wish that rF2 doesn't die, and like to think It wont for the sole reason that It´s not restricted to specific class cars.
Just to clarify, I was talking specifically about the rFactor 2 engine owned by Studio 397. The older rFactor 1 engine, which is still owned by ISI (who formally still exist, but almost everybody working there has left by now), was indeed licensed a lot more often in the past (probably for the last time to Reiza for building AMS). ISIMotor 3.0 does not exist. Prior to rFactor, ISI was creating games for other publishers (F1 and NASCAR games for EA for example). At some point they decided they wanted to stop doing that and build their own game, which became rFactor. Most licensing deals came after that, and probably were necessary to sustain the business (but that is my guess, I don't have any inside information). Then came rFactor 2, building on yet another evolution of the engine, and that version was never licensed to anyone by ISI. At Studio 397 we ended up licensing it to Amazon Games and helped them build The Grand Tour Game, and later to MSG for NASCAR 21 Ignition, before MSG bought Studio 397 altogether.
Hopefully rf2 gets more content and HUD from LMU. It's still the best driving experience around, tires feel like rubber on track better than any other sim.
@MikeV710 @Xzanman yes you are right, there are more people in RF2 than LMU I'll give it another try, maybe it was due some kind of connection error but the beginners series server was completely empty, which wasn't the case few months ago
I presume that lots of people playing Race Control races in rF2 might have indeed moved to LMU. Those players left in rF2 are probably playing mostly leagues and offline custom content.
23 registered drivers right now In beginner class, It´s 21:00hrs. (GMT +1) right now on a Wednesday...
