This probably goes without saying, and has probably already been mentioned, but it would be great to have a friends list, be able to join those friends' races with a click, and be able to have voice chat with all drivers. Currently, we have to rely on things like Steam to see who's online and where they are. I just think the online racing/friends/community/chat options could (and should) be vastly improved.
