    Look this guy video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAhtGFafkJI

In my simracing rig, it looks like i´m a giraffe and doubt i was able to put my legs inside this cockpit if it was representing real life.

Is good to play and make hotlaps, but my main concern is immersion.

ps: the steering wheel on full screen is aligned with my belly button almost.
Again, excellent to gaming but destroys immersion to me.

Bit of a misunderstanding here... yes, that's exactly what I was saying :)

My point was in a small sedan the wheel sits quite a way below your eyeline, while in, say, an F1 car it's right there. Trying to match those two situations in a sim to your physical situation, without moving your wheel or screen, is impossible.

Regarding cockpit 'scaling', the cockpits are the right size; in rF2 especially, where the cockpit doesn't use its own model, it's the same size on the inside as the car is on the outside - modders can't 'fake' the size of the cockpit without also faking the size of the car itself. So if the cockpit doesn't seem the right size when your FOV is correct, the seat position needs adjusting.

Jerry's problem would appear to be that when you adjust your seat position to make the cockpit correct, the on-screen wheel no longer matches your physical wheel (or if you have the wheel turned off, your physical wheel isn't in the right position in the cockpit) - but as above, you can't avoid this except by changing your physical sim setup to match the virtual car you're driving.

Well, i just found what i was doing wrong. FFS

Since i always put seat position as far as i can from the dashboard and not every mod has the same range, sometimes (in mods with long range of seat adjustment like eve F1) i was able to lower fov and get the dashboard matching my steering wheel.

But now when i was taking the pictures to prove my point, instead put seat all back in any mod, and since, as i told before, they don´t have the same range, i choose to put all seat position (back/foward) in 0 value and take pics of all cockpit view with fov at 35.

Which i get in all about 5 mods that i did that is they all are matching without changing fov.

Sorry for making people loosing time trying to explain. My second mistake on technical issues today that i´m wrong. And i only get into 2 technical matters.

2 on 2 is vere disapointing. Next time, if it happens, when i get in to technical matters, please just say: méh Luis, the odds you are wrong are really high. Go post else where. I´m gonna freak out, start to swearing, get banned and come back with better attitude.

    :(

I feel bad for who supported my nonsense posts. lol

OK so we are all in agreement. The only way to do a sim correctly is to adjust the Wheel height and size AND monitor placement according to each car with custom Horizon line and seat position for each car... and as long as the monitor doesn't get closer or farther away the FOV is constant.

    lol

Forums are great for sharing opinions etc... but also I think the worst place to try and discuss/explain things. If only we could all be in the same room and explain what we're saying I think we'd get things cleared up a lot quicker. Just need a big room. And free airfare.

Add to this language barriers and you are ready to wear my boots. It´s a lot frustrating. But my posts don´t suffer from completely lack of logical arguments (even they are wrong) i hope.

Anyway, at least i´m practicing my english. :)

My ventrilo is always open for arguments.. Link in my signature. I have recently hosted several deep though discussions on the console wars, which sims suck and who REALLY cares about the emmy's.

It's true. A lot of people's logic is perfectly sound, it's just that they tend to make different assumptions. Different assumptions, different conclusions.

    So what's my 'ideal' FOV?

    32" TV
    Screen Height=39cm
    Screen Width=69cm
    Eyes to TV=roughly 84cm

"Ideal" FoV is what better suits your needs.

    "Correct" FoV is 26°(Vertical) 45°(Horizontal).

I concur the calculations. 26°V it is.

I've gone from a 65FOV to 45 and holy crap it's been a game changer, especially at Sepang. I'd miss half the apex's there on a normal lap. Objects seem like they are properly scaled on the screen as well. Wow.

Do any of you guys use "cockpit vibration" to help with sense of speed?

P.S I'd recommend everybody to try this. It was a holy sh#t moment for me.

I haven't tried that plugin. I use ISI's head movement but it's not as noticeable now with the new FOV. Thanks for the link, I'll give that a go in the next couple of days as I'm sure it will take a bit of time to tweak.

Edit: I just beat my PB @ Sepang in the Marussia by 1.5 seconds on the second lap. Same setup. LMAO!!! :D

Sorry to arrive just too late at this thread.
My preference goes to the free Microsoft Mathematics http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15702
One can easily solve triangles with the Triangle Tool and much more!
Im not the biggest fan of M$ but sometimes they do the perfect job.

    Edited:
Thanks ZeosPantera for the good work
    Thanks taufikp for OP
    Tahnks Andreas67 for your calculator
