doing the lord's work out here compiling this stuff for the one day ill try to run a career mode starting in 2017
I'm guessing some tracks have updated since this last post. Seoul is at version 1.3 and i can't figure out Rome S5 S7. i downloaded the Rome from your link and only option i get is S9. I'm not sure if they are same track only updated or if the S5 S7 layouts were different.
Thanks for the heads up CS, simply must have missed those two, I get on it. Yes there are 2 or 3 Rome layouts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome_ePrix Since S5 & S7 has been removed in workshop I must do the same ( I did a quick Google can't find it elsewhere )
Post #1 rfmod is updated. Removed: ROM_S5_S7 v3.2 ( Rome ePrix SEASON 5 & 7 ) Removed: SEOUL ePrix v1.2 Added: Rome ePrix SEASON 9 v3.5 Added: SEOUL ePrix v1.3
Thanks for the quick response. Rome confused me a bit and somewhat disappointing that author removed different layouts, always nice to have for the early gen cars. Oh well re-affirms how the rfmods "preserves" the users files.
Thanks for keeping these up to date. How can i add Monaco2019 to the rfmod, I've never compiled an rfmod but i swear in one of these threads you had a "how to" which i can't find atm or do you know where i can find a quick tutorial?
I put my tutorials everywhere and they need updating. I have very particular way of updating rfrmods. There is one basic rule. A. If you edit rfmod to add free or 3rd party content you can update the existing rfmod. B. If you want to add or edit DLC you must make the rfmod from scratch and just overwrite the other v1.0 version so use same name. In this case you leave the original one uninstalled but in Mod Manager so you can use it to copy your content to fresh rfmod Unfortunately adding Monaco will error packaging same as DLC so you have to make the rfmod from scratch. Okay not hard as you have original mod all you have to do is copy the list one at a time 1A. Close rFactor 2 1B. Make sure your roaming folder has no MAS2 folder or 2 pkginfo.dat files ( delete or backup ) C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming 2. Open Mod Manager, tick box Mods, untick box Components. STEAM\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\ModMgr.exe 3. Uninstall FORMULA E 2018-2025 v1.0 but don't delete it. 4. Open MAS2 beside Mod Manager so you can copy content from original mod. "D:\STEAM\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Support\Tools\MAS2.exe" 5. Click on the 6th little icon "Create the package file" 6. Click " Create New Mod Package file" 7. Give rfmod a original name ( I use caps locks as I think looks better in series ) 8. Click NEXT you will be taken to track list. 9. Hold ctrl to multi pick all tracks from the original mod be careful easy to make a mistake. TIP: Use the onscreen keyboard click ctrl on it instead, then you don't have to hold ctrl. 10. Make sure you select DLC highest version number only. 11. Select all tracks in rfmod and add MONACO 2019 ........click next. 12. Select all FE cars ( remember only the highest version number of each car or track) ===================================================================== *** If you get this wrong and click package it will error and corrupt the pkginfo.dat file and the rfmod file in MAS2\roaming and you will have to start all over. So check everything twice before you click package If I never made it clear you just can't keep making rfmods, eventually MAS2 will CTD and the pkginfo.dat folder will corrupt and you could lose all your rfmods editing capability. Usually you can make 4 to 6 mods before it will CTD depends how much content is in each. Making a error with free or 3rd party content you can click uninstall edit the rfmod and package it again no issues. ====================================================================== 13. Click Next 14. Select 397wHUD 15. Click Next 16. Now you want to remove any track layouts you don't want, like I don't include Portland sprint because they use the full course. So to remove a layout just untick it's box. 17. Now remove the "show cars" from each season, untick their boxes or you will have them in races. You can still check them out in all tracks and cars 2018 - FE Showcar 2019 - Formula E #01 2021 - FIA Formula E Gen2 car #1 2022 - FIA Formula E Gen2 car #1 2023 - FIA Formula E #00 2025 - FIA Formula E #00 18. Double check everything and click Package then Install. 19. Untick ctrl on onscreen keyboard 20. Don't close MAS2 ..if it's not right you can uninstall it and edit it. 21 Refresh Mod MANAGER and make sure your new mod is installed. Open rFactor 2 click on Series .... you made your first custom rfmod congrats Make sure to backup copy of rfmod from Packages folder. Once you used to this procedure will take a few minutes to make each rfmod. This is the only way to manage all your content imho. Next step is to archive everything from workshop you can, 90% of content is not updated even if it is you can still subscribe it copy to archive and unsubscribe. This will make Steam smaller and keep all content safe from workshop deletion. My rFactor 2 Packages folder is 1.13mb ========================================================== If you backup MAS2 folder and the 2 pkginfo.dat files ( from roaming folder ) you can edit rfmod later to add 3rd party updates in seconds. This is why I use OVGME to make mods for each set of temp folders This way you can edit any rfmod ( except add new or updated DLC ) If you corrupt your files in MAS2 you have foolproof backup. =============================== A further rule of editing rfmods: When you update free or 3rd party content in a mod: Uninstall the rfmod then uninstall the old versions of content first. Otherwise MAS2 will use the lowest version when it's packed even though you select the highest version.
Thank you for taking the time to go through that. I have others I wanted to assemble as well so I will definitely be trying to create my own.
Well for mine there are many positives. Best feature is that every rfmod you use will save what you selected last so when you come back to it you ready to go again. If all content is installed in rfmods you don't lose old versions of any content until you are ready, not Steam. All Tracks and Cars when it gets really big every content update rF2 lags out loading UI. With content split across rfmods lightens the process and rfmods open fast and are immune to updates. Browsing all track and car lists can be tedious. No less confusing is the endless classes list which can get so huge it's barely useable. rfmods of course allow you to pick precise content down to layouts and skins and drastically limit the class list. rfmods can be edited ***Providing 1 folder and 2 files for each "mod" are religiously backed up. Aesthetically I think they look better in UI and how it could have been handled by Categories.
The 2025 year car allegedly has 30% more power and extra tire grip. Probably they haven´t been updated because of licensing, I´m wondering if it is possible to upgrade the car without having the original values, being an encripted car.
