    Formula 3 ITALIA - DALLARA F308/309 FPT (WIP/NO RELEASE)

    I've parked Dunsfold, waiting for future updates...and I'm starting a new project based on my High Poly F309 model built for promotional/commercial purposes.

    I've just remodeled a lot of parts from scratch (headrest not finished yet), working on the same original CADs drawings, to get a proper polycount/structure for rF2 - and using my original model as a reference, trying to keep a decent standard for the organic shape of this car.

    The original bodyshape (without tires and cockpit stuff) was +600K(tris), the new one for rF2 is (actually) around 60Ktris (BodyShape/Wings + Suspensions). My budget for the full car at max quality will be around 100KTris but turning off a few details (ECU/cables/rivets/bolts etc..) the total polycount could be around 60/70KTris. There is not meshsmooth/turbosmooth, just polygon modeling with some nurbs on most organic areas for the LOD100.

    The physics will be based on real Telemetry data and feedback, for the Fiat Powertrain engine with 2010 specs.

    When it's ready I'm thinking to release just a basic pack with one standard F3 and a basic livery+template (maybe the Entropyxel already made)...hoping some guys out there will made a full mod with the complete Italian Championship 2012...:)

    Actually there are a lot of parts missing for the game version;

    Engine cover+restrictor filter
    Tires
    Rims
    Headrest
    Brakes/Calipers

    A first GI render preview of the rF2 version (more renders after I've closed the entire bodyshape);

    More of the original work can be seen here (High Poly model offline renders);

    Now I can wait for ISI's updates little bit longer :p

    Looks very promising. I would love to see that kind of car painting in rf2, we definitely need new shaders :)

    Beautiful work Pier! I really can't wait for rF2 to mature, it's gonna be a monster in a year or so

    I think that was meant as a compliment for a well done model and render. ;)

  12. With your biography and regarding what I've seen on the Entropyxel site, I'm sure this project will be a "Must Have"!!!

    It depends on shaders and materials.

    If ISI will give us new shaders or at least they unlock coreshaders.mas I'm sure you will see similar effects in rf2 sooner or later.

    The preview render (the blue car) shows the actual rF2 model, so this is the polygon structure and will be the same on rF2.

    The major problem to get a proper look is the reflection shader that in build 69 is totally messed up, but I hope they'll fix soon.

    When a reflection shader works properly a bodyshape can looks far better because you can get all those shiny lines and specular reflections around the car. You can model a 1 million poly car, but without proper shaders still looking as a rusted barrow...:)

    PS: tnx guys! More previews soon..:)

    I'm never fully satisfied with a racing sim if it doesn't include a modern F3 machine.

    Thanks, Tuttle! :)

    WOW! After reading about it on multiple sites, im in no doubt this will be an epic car! I love the smaller Formulas, few people go for the lower categories and too many do F1 and it gets repetitive. This looks top top top quality! Keep it up! Really looking forward to it! :)
