I have the old Fanatec CSL Elite pedals with the potentiometers on clutch and throttle, but a load cell brake. The load cell brake is fine. Naturally the pots were going bad and they're too much trouble to clean. First the clutch and then the throttle, both spiking/dropping so much they were unusable. Apart from the potentiometers, I've really liked these pedals. They have nice large pads on the pedals and their stiffness is in the right range for me. Not to mention, at the time, the price was moderate. A little internet digging gave me hope to replace the pots with Hall effect sensors and magnets rather than buying a replacement set of pedals. Turns out it is pretty easy if you've got a little experience soldering and know someone with a 3D printer. The replacement I chose also eliminates the plastic gears that fail due to grit chewing them up, so this upgrade should last a long time. Presumably the CSL Elite v2 pedals which come with Hall effect sensors still have the plastic gears? Step by step DIY guide for replacing CSL Elite pedal throttle/clutch potentiometers with hall sensors (20 pictures, instructions, links to required materials) : r/Fanatec
Been really enjoying the Hall effect sensors except the instructions say the extra magnets lock the one used by the sensor into place. Well that only lasted a week before my throttle magnet shifted during a race. Realigned the magnet and applied duct tape... hopefully that is enough to keep the magnets aligned.
