Velo did an amazing job? I sincerely hope you know the source of the model... Lovely car, lovely project - I have converted it myself a long time ago - I am looking forward to be following the development and trying your interpretation of the how it could be driving...
I hope you are not right. He dropped me the MAX model he worked on and I understood this was his own work. If you have the Forza model I can compare it with that would be golden. If it's similar I need to stop this project, because I don't want to put my time in stuff if it's not legal.
It is Forza, I am 99 percent sure. I'll supply it to you so you can have a look at the wireframe and/or mapping.
After a bit research and files from Bjørn it seems this is indeed a Forza model. So two choices left. I stop it, or make new 3D for the full car (which will take two years from now till a possible release). Thanks for pointing this out, the last thing I want is to get involved in theft.
Or, someone could offer you the 3D models of the whole contemporary set of cars :-D PS: it's easier to find a gold coin on your cereal than a legitimate free mod on AC... so this does not come as a surprise.
My personal opinion, is to see if you can get permission from RSS to convert their GT1 mod over from AC. It is scratch built by a legitimate mod team. They were looking at converting their mod to rF2, but I think that got shelved. They might be ok with providing the files to be able to do that as it has been several years since their initial release. You could do a similar partnership with what Nick is doing with URD. Granted I know it is payware, but it would be a legitimate mod to be a pay ware mod.
Forgot to reply, my bad. The good news is that @yoss pointed me to a copyright free model that needs a bit rework. In my view, I prefer the extra work. Model will be more GPU friendly, better modelled. I think 70% will be my own 3D anyway and I do believe that the 550 really deserves this extra work. In my mind I see those red LED numbers on dashboard going wild at Monza and Le Mans. Before I went on holiday, there was a 4 hour moment I wanted to start this project. So I did a few corrections based on references. Don't mind the high poly of the free base model. I will clean it soon.. Meanwhile, this fresh monster is 90% completed. Have done many corrections on it before, a small update after a bit weird start on this project. A shortcut does not worked well, also thanks to the suggestions on free models but they where not good enough
I've probably posted this before, but one of the more memorable Le Mans was the year 4 Ferraris battled 3 Corvettes. They ran nose to tail for much of the first hour. Great images.
