F1 & Marussia Car

Hi there.

Yesterday I downloaded the demo, and the marussia car, since I'm not an enthusiast of motorsport in general, but indeed I am of Formule 1 in particular.

I putted Marussia car in the proper folder, and installed the car in the plugins manager, but I can't choose the car in the demo to test it in long Silverston,e.

What am I doing wrong?. Or is just, there is no way to use Marussia in the demo?.

I started in this world of simulation since F1 Challenge 99'02, but I would like to see what has happened with new Isi simulator now almost 15 years after.

And other question more: There is some official (or unofficial, but very well mod) for F1 seasons in rFactor 2?

Greetings!

Greetings!

If your computer and graphic card can cope with the demo and you enjoy open wheelers, I recomend you buy the game, you can't go wrong even if the UI is still a Wip and graphics still lacking a bit (but improving).

ISI has excellent F1s from sixties and 70, plus FISI (2012 F1) and Marussia (F1 2013), you'll find skinpacks for them on the forums.

The brabham BT20 and the skinpack from Tim Weatley alone are more than worth the price paid for the whole game.

They drive very well and are a real challenge to setup and drive.

They are excellent third party mods F1RFT 2013 (very detailed graphics), OWC 1992 and two superb 1991 F1 from ASR.

You'll find excellent tracks from ISI and third parties.

I find the game a real steal for the money asked and the content available.

Cheers.

Ops, I see. So there is no way to test a F1 with the demo, Ok, Thanks for the info.

About F1 mods, and specifically about tracks, rFactor 2 users haves access to Suzuka, Monaco and Spa-franonchamps tracks?

Have a look at nogripracing.com , racedepartment.com, and look around for more "big time" sites with rF2 downloads. In the two I mentioned, you can find separate rF2 download sections to check. All of those tracks are available however they are conversions of NFS Shift/F1 201x (eww), F1 201x, and F1 201x. They're bland looking and often times inaccurate, but this may not be as important. You'd be able to scale rF2's graphics to suit your computer, if you tone down opponents and little effects, you can focus on track details and your own car so it won't look too bad. If you have spare frames to use, then try HDR.

Hmmm I see. People pick it up from here and there and then content gets readapted (graphically & physically) to rFactor. Lots of possibilities, no warranties.

So Isi is basically developing physics simulation of driving, specially thoroughly about tires and asphalt, but "content" (tracks, cars, behaviour of the cars, etc...) are prepared, captured and extracted from other places (or created) by the community. Even behaviour of the cars is adjusted by community using Isi rfactor prepared tools to do so, isn't it?

So they provide templates from start working on, and they avoid licensing issues with car brands and this kind of things, right?.

Not exactly. ISI have already developed quite a lot of cars and tracks. You could see them here:
http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/cars/
http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/track/

In addition ISI provide a tool that allows community to develop their own cars, locations and plugins. There are many modes and plugins of very high quality. Most of them are free, some are paid, but not too expensive.
There are several modes for F1 for different years. There are all recent F1 tracks.

The graphics is not the best in class, however I believe the majority of the simracers consider RF2 as the sim with the best (most realistic) physics. I am one of them.

Aha, so there is some content developed by Isi.

Yes, the most important is the behaviour and the feeling of get the car under control (or how to lost-recover it to get some fun!). Graphics are pretty, but the main point of a simulator is gameplay, of course.

Yeah, graphic there very nice, but physic! It very ugly arcade! Really I can't understand why they install arcade physic!
