Research shows that most of "natural talent" is actually the desire to do one thing to the exclusion of others for a very long time... combined with the access to be able to do whatever that thing is. All F1 drivers have that to one degree or another. As most of us know, drivers that get to F1 these days have dedicated as much time to racing as their families could afford for many years---often starting as small children. And the families have the financial means or special access to do it. Even someone growing up relatively modestly, like Hamilton, had special access through his father's out of the ordinary commitment of a significant percentage of his modest resources and time-- which combined with his son's drive to practice and excel-- then led to McLaren noticing.
