From what I remember about helping to mod GTR2, when things when black like that, usually for us it was the windscreen only, there was a material that was used in the car and I think the same material or material name used by something in the track.

Enjoying the BMW lately, especially the sounds. Does anyone have any setup tips to reduce the spin in the rear wheels? When nearing the end of a gear, the turbo kicks in and makes the car spin. In the Benetton, it’s even worse. It’s only drivable when you listen very closely and reduce the throttle on time, but sometimes it’s not possible because the timing of the power kick depends on factors like the gear you’re in, I think.

Hi, a tip is to not push full throttle like you could with modern engine.
The kick comes only at the upper revs but the trick is to feel the throttle limit and apply it before power come. WHen power comes, it's too late.
Senna was also using throttle pumping moves to maintain the pressure and keep a better control on exit.
So, if you know approximately how many percent of throttle you can use when kicks come, you can modulate a bit and control the rear very well. The temptation is to go further and make a mistake but very rewarding when under control ;)
Btw on rain (rain tyres are not updated now) you would have to use less boost too. No need boost to be fast ;)

Hi all of you, it's time for some news ;)

First, i don't have any news of my friend @doddynco since many month now.
I just hope he is in good health and i don't know why he doesn't respond.
If it's due to a personnal decision, i just want to say "So many Thanks Mate" for the job done.
Sharing these moments of creation was a great joy to me and a big step forward in my eyes on modding solutions ;) Wish you the best Shaun ;)

    Second and a better news.
I'm 100% totally back in modding since one month now.
    I needed freshness ;)
With the remarkable work of Doddy as a base, i have also learn some other aspects and can promise now to produce some really nice final mod for these cars.

Last but not... I will release not only one car by one but all of them in the next update of the mod.
As for the 1988 historical mod, it will be a plug and play system where all cars, ai, bop, etc...will be done accordingly to the real
    performances of the cars.
Then, after bug reports, i will try to correct them if any.

Concerning the physics, i'm very happy with what i have done already now and it's pure joy to drive the cars.
I've work alot on the behaviors to make the cars a bit more "predictable".
But, if you think that they will be easier to drive, well, you'd better bet on a soft right foot to handle them. :D :D :D

For the sounds, as a fantastic base from Doddy and the fact that those engines where all v6 or L4 of 1.5 liter, the "tweaks" of engine sounds will be done also to make them roar like they should ;)

Ok, time to get back to work now and as always...Stay tuned ;)

Hi!!!! Sorry for my absence. I have been away for some time as you know and I was just completely burnt out with the project. I owe you an apology for not keeping you in the loop but the project was consuming me and not fun for some time. So I'm Sorry Trollray, I appreciate your words and encoragement but I didn't really know how to reply to your enthusiasm with my lack of progess. I have no excuse to not simply send you a message though so sorry brother.

The reason my momentum suddenly died is that I found a big flaw in the aero calculations, which I did a long time a go and in a completely empirical way and where I had made some considerable errors, mostly releated to my assumtions/lack of knowlegde of what the downforce capabilities of the cars were (I was coming into this as a complete beginner so had no real reference point). And as 5 separate cars now needed a complete revision following this discovery I just couldn't bare the thought of sorting what seemed like a complete mess at the time.

And it did sort the core aero issue out, back then (maybe a year ago), and used some good source material to put together reasonable aero figures for the Mclaren (Extrapolating this to the other cars characteristics is the easy bit) but that is where the work stopped.

This meant the rest of the tyre and suspension physics were sort of warped to work around these figures to give the cars the correct lap times... and the huge amount of time i'd put into fine tweaking the handling was in retrospect maybe not the best spent time now that huge revisions were necessary.

Another side track was that the RF2 track temperature update in 2022 I think, caused a strange glitch with the front tyres, which now acted like they had a defect, like some sort of offset mass, causing vibrations and ruining the enjoyment for me. So I had to reverese engineer the tyre and rebuild it in the tgm spreadsheet to rerender it and try to eliminate the defect. This actually worked, but damn by this point my brain was fried.

Suspension, brakes, dampers... all that stuff needed doing and unfortunately I had nothing left, and with 4 other cars to revise, I put the project down.

Well yesterday, I took a look at the project again (after 2 hours trying to fix broken FFB in moddev because of the broken update I didn't know about lol, which what a perfect welcome back to RF2 haha.) and I did just try and be pragmatic and go through what needed doing on the Mclaren, and I feel like I made some great progess with it. But yes, a huge change, I will keep you guys updated. But I thoughoughly enjoyed working on it again, I just have to use my time well and always have a clear objective.

And Oli if you can update me on what you have done to the 1986 cars in your time, we can maybe combine the progress - esspecially if you have the other 7 cars ups our sleeve.

Thank you everyone for your continued interest in the project.

No reason to apologize. If anybody is wants to know that rF2 physics modding is, it's this. I'm nearly done with my project (I hope) and this post hit me right in the feels.

I'm glad to hear your refreshed for another run. It takes a lot to get back up after being beaten down by the aero calculator so many times
