You need balls to drive these cars in Mônaco, too much horsepower

These cars + max boost + Monaco is the most fun I've ever had hot lapping in rFactor. Getting sideways out of every corner. I always kick the clutch a few times to get the revs up and build boost faster, something that seems to work in rF2 but I wouldn't try it in real life. :p

Brabham, Benetton and Arrows used the same engine. I think we can expect the same BT55's lag.

EDIT: The Arrows was probably the worst car. But was reliable. They started the season with a model (A8) and they used a new car later (the A9) but it was warse than its predecessor. 5 speed Hewland fort the A8 and 6 fort he A9.
The BT55 was incredibly unreliable. Turbo and gearbox (7 manual gearbox) were the cause of this unreliability. 20 retirements on race between the 3 drivers.
The Benetton used an "home-made" 6 manual gearbox that was very reliable. Also the chassis was better than the BT55. It was the best car with the BMW's engine. But that engine was...terrible we need to say that...expecially mounted on the revolutionary BT55 chassis. The most powerful but useless. McLaren won the drivers title with the 4th or 5th (!!!) powerful engine.

So I take it that the best overall engine was... Honda.. ?

Why not? In my opinion, if we talk about engines in that year, there wasn't a great difference (mere numbers apart). Renault, Porsche and Honda were for sure the best in 1986. But the car was more important. Setups were VERY important. Piquet was very useful in that case for Williams.

Porsche had a short but successful history as engine supplier for McLaren in F1.

You can see the powerful and unreliable BMW engine in action in the Austrian GP.

Senna had problems (Renault engine) in the Austrian (engine) and Italian(transmission) GP's which ended his chances of fighting for the title until the last round.

In the end, probably the Honda engine was the most reliable which gave Williams the constructors title.

Very first try with this beast so my driving is not very good but damn I love it !
Maybe the most difficult car I ever drived in rf2.
Hope the Benetton will be more like this F1-86 than the BT55 who is IMO too """easy""".
Thanks ChiefWiggum & Postipate for your hard work and passion.

I had a sensation that the distance from front to rear is too narrow in relation to the real car, needs some ajustments. This video is in corret aspect ratio in that time (4:3)

Benetton is too easy? Did you worked the setup?

I'm agree. My "test" on Monaco was not properly a good test. In Carrera's circuit my time was "in line" with the reality.
Then I tried the BT55 on Brands Hatch laserscanned and...the result was that I was a loooooooong way faster than the real cars. With standard engine I destroyed a lot of qualy laps. My race-pace was always on qualy time. I know that is impossible to drive a full race with full turbo power, but it was possible for a lap in the reality...and, for me, to have a qualy's time lap on race is not "good". This BT55 is not really hard to drive but still remain a fantastic car to drive. The turbo makes this car hard to handle when power increase like a demon's rage. Not properly a perfect mod but still astonishing.
Now I will test the Ferrari and Benetton. :)
