[REL] F1 1979 HISTORIC EDITION 2.02 BY POSTIPATE

There is no rush to update, mod it is fine like it is now.:)

yes! most fun i've had behind the wheel in long time.

Finding the problem aint hard at all as i know why its like that. It origins to 75 mod where I tried to find things to make braking and shifting harder. Reasons:
1) When online racing all fast drivers without h shifter where able to change gear like with the sequential.
2) you never had to blip the thorttle to reduce back end getting loose

Thats why i wanted to it like this.
1) You need to carefully change gears and know at what rpm you can change or you will upset the car.
2) always blip thorttle and match it with right revs or you will upset car.
3) change too early or you will blown you engine
4)when overtaking with late braking its sometimes better to skip the gears to avoid upsetting car (5 -> 3 or 5 -> 2) and make sure you match the revs (quite hard). Sorry only possible with H-shifter but I made these mods with/for H-shifter
making the mod for H-shifters and any attemp to balance the differences between H-shifter vs sequential users is appreciated more than you can imagine.
the approach to get the balance that the simracers.de LE 1975 F1 has is awesome! i wish this mod would get that feature aswell. forcing to lift properly makes it so much more authentic when using H-shifter.

thank you so much for all your work, and for listening our gripes and whines, and allways replying to comments.
you are a exeamplary modder for this or any community!

Actually I have idea to include this lifting to other mods too. Not the way I did for simracers.de, but still :)

Some was complaining about track yesterday

If I was told I could only have one track it would be Brands Hatch. Perfection for me would be the layout after the Paddock Hill Bend re-profile with the original Westfield. Exactly as faced by some of these cars.
Of all the versions I've driven in sims this is my favourite, the only problem is that for some reason on-line I have a stutter that gets progressively worse through the session in the second half of the GP loop. Didn't have that problem off-line.

I'll keep going as this combination is still a dream for me.

Oh, and big thanks Postipate for allowing me to live out those childhood dreams. And Ari for hosting them!

I looked your ping yesterday and it is fine and that is not the cause to stutters. Brands is bit demanding to GFX card and you get often stutters when other cars are a round. Perhaps lowering opponent, shadows and AA details could help.

Ok Posti, give us one last update that addresses the engine braking and being able to see the cars in the selection area and you can go on a 2 month vacation, no forum posts, or anything of the sort, don't even think about rF2, you've earned it, however this is only a suggestion lol.

I have made a new vmod to F1_1979_Official_Server_1 with four tracks which was raced in 1979.

Fuel usage: Normal
Tyre wear: Normal
Damage: 50%
Auto Clutch on
Practice: 60 min.
Qualify: 10 min.
Race:15 min.

Tracks:
sm_Kyalami_Legends_v1.01LE
sm_Silverstone_Legends_v1.4

Tracks and can be downloaded from the online lobby. Server is using Noel Hibbart`s GetMod service ;)

LiveRacers: http://fun2race.liveracers.info/Live/?server=F1_1979_Official_Server_1 o_O

F1_1979_Official_Server_2 is running Sao Paulo GP Ver. 1.07 (S397 DX11) in case somebody likes to test mod with VR and latest content.

Fuel usage: Normal
Tyre wear: Normal

LiveRacers: http://fun2race.liveracers.info/Live/?server=F1_1979_Official_Server_2

F1_1979_Official_Server_3 is not online anymore :(

Okey this guy was 10 second slower than the lap times in 79 (mostly he is slower because there aint sideskirt allowed so much less dowforce for him) but really nice video

There seem to be low interest to online racing in rFactor 2 only few guys has used servers in last 14 days . I have shut down F1_1979_Official_Server_2 and F1_1979_Official_Server_3.o_O

I keep F1_1979_Official_Server_1 server online for now.

Fuel usage: Normal
Tyre wear: Normal
Damage: 50%
Auto Clutch on
Practice: 60 min.
Qualify: 10 min.
Race:15 min.

Tracks:
Kyalami GP (1975) (199 451 kb)
Silverstone GP (1975) (98 905 kb)
Zolder 79 (67 249 kb)
Dijon 79 (78 002 kb)

Total download size of all the four tracks is 443,6 mb which is not much more then one ordinary rFactor2 track and download size should not scare anybody off . Tracks and can be downloaded from the online lobby. Server is using Noel Hibbart`s GetMod service ;)

LiveRacers: http://fun2race.liveracers.info/Live/?server=F1_1979_Official_Server_1 :)

:confused::(

on 5 july i wrote this pm to motorfx, author of rf1 1979 trackpack:

hi motorfix
i saw you are track modder of the great 1979 track pack.
with some friends on rf2 community, if is it possible, we like to convert trackpack to rf2.
so we ask you permission for that, logically mention original GPC79 authors in credits.
is it possible?
tk,
Mauro

today he answer me:
Yes sure
cheers, Ken

So if there are track modders who wants to try, there are all permissions for converting all 1979 rf1 tracks.
(one important thing is that tracks needs mesh update for working well on rf2)

-rF1 Grand Prix 1979 2.5 updated trackpack: Part1 Part2
-Updated Hockenheim 1979 (new): Link

Im also ready to help with optimazation to DX11 and with shaders.

Occasionally I run across a few gems as I read old books & magazines & cruise the internet. Found this a few days ago and have attached measured Lotus 79 aerodynamic and suspension data. It is a composite of several hi-resolution scans from "New Directions in Suspension Design, Making the Fast Car Faster" by Colin Campbell, 1980. He published this info with permission from "Motor", who published the original study. There may be more in the "Motor" article, but I don't have access to any issues. Hope you find it useful.
