The asphalt still looks it's being hit by a 12:00 sun on a very clear, hot summer day (like the original Essington baked textures).
I think the lighter asphalt color looks way better aesthetically, and also more natural/realistic. Asphalt only looks dark right after it rains, and for a few weeks after a fresh pave. The darker color, in my opinion, throws off the whole ambience of Essington, and would only look right for modern cars. The lighter color works for modern and classic races. Just my opinion though, in any case I'm super excited for this track and can't wait to drive it.
The whole thing with this light asphalt is that it's light because the original textures had the sunlight "built in." Light asphalt is fine, just the base texture shouldn't be one that is biased towards heavy sunlight.
Ficarei feliz com o que for, Essington was the best ISI track for rFactor 1 and deserves the love it's getting here.
Some ingame shots. Took me ages to find a good hdr setting, especially for the trees. I used the mills trees for these shots and modified the normal maps to give these bill boards more volume. I don't like when they tend to drop into pitch black when sun is slightly behind the trees at noon. HDR profile has low Sun T Lum and high gamma. Yes!!! That was the most annoying bug. Great work Mario. Did a lot of testing today and I must say the material settings are top notch.
Just noticed the eni six legged dog: that is the old logo, changed some years ago. You can find new ones on www.eniracing.com
Fine tuning, bug fixing... I believe it is not to far away from release, but it's up to Mario and Babs to decide when it's ready. Here is a sneak peak from the road with some specular reflection. It's worth to wait.
